Should Arsenal be lucky enough to scrape though this, they're in for a massive humiliation against the first half-decent side they meet. Utterly embarrassing, all over again!
From the BBC's text coverage: Batmanu Eboue: And that goal shows exactly why Alexis Sanchez is the signing of the summer. You might recognise the name, still daft as a brush clearly
No YV, I saw the previous batmanu CL predictions on the BBC website earlier. He has been kicked off of JA Goon 606 at least once (even they are sick of his whining - which given the audience speaks volumes) .
QPR are losing 1-0 to League Two Burton with 5 minutes to go. Not a good week for our old manager so far, really. Looks like the team started without a recognised striker, but they still should've had enough to beat them, surely?
Leeds took the lead against Bradford with 82 minutes on the clock at Valley Parade. Four minutes later and the hosts lead 2-1!
It's incredible to see such bias in the commentary. Despite scraping a 1-0 win over Besiktas at home we're told that Wilshere, Chamberlain, Debuchy and all were very good! If they were they'd have won comfortably like they were expected to. Debuchy's red was clear, he pulled back the opponent well before he made the challenge and as much as it might confuse Alan Smith, entering the field of play without the permission of a ref is a booking, just as taking your shirt off to celebrate a goal is. Ah well, Besiktas deserved to go through but Arsenal have shown a resiliance once again. They'll have to pick up their form significantly if they think they're going to challenge for the title.
The lifecycle of Goonus CL : - A pantomine qualifier tie - Topping their group in a position of strength and still blowing it to finish 2nd - Facing a CL pedigree side in the first KO round, and dying.
If a team doesn't get direct entry to the CL they should not be seeded. How many times have Woolwich done this and ended up in an easy group?
The one thing we can always be guaranteed each year is Arsenal getting humiliated in the latter stages of the CL. English football always dies a little when that happens, and I always end up feeling soiled by the experience.
while the spuds sit and watch ,longing to be on stage too ...... dont you know there are echoes of glory in defeat ? tsk tsk . how are them grapes , sour ?
