Outplayed twice by a very average Besiktas, not a great way to start the season. Much better from Wilshere and Sanchez at least

Shame Debuchy did that, he was probably our best player going forward

Entertaining end to the game that. Think the ref enjoyed it most though.

Anyways, congrats for your qualification for your annual whimper out/not trying to win competition.

**** me that was tense. We showed great spirit and real determination in that second half, especially when we went down to ten men. Great result, so much riding on it. We are in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PROPER <magic>

9 yellows and a red, I've seen dirtier games in my old gits vets league, some refs love being centre of attention....

Debuchy too. He played really well and was unlucky to get sent off.

Wilshere was really strong tonight. Put a lot of critics in their place with that performance.

From what I've seen of the portuguese league that's about normal for their refs

If we were more clinical the last twenty would have been more comfortable.

So far people haven't been happy with our performances and questioned the start of our campaign but when you look at results we've won the community shield against city, got an opening day win for the first time in years, recovered a point away to Everton in a game that we lost badly last season and qualified for the champions league without conceding a goal over two legs.

Considering the team are still comming together properly after the World Cup and we have new signings settling in its not surprising that we haven't been up to our best, but we've done what's been needed so far. We need the performances to improve but I think they will as the games roll on.

It was a hard fought victory tonight, but a very important one. Being in the champions league is important for us as a club and it's a 17th year in a row.

Really pleased for Sanchez getting his first goal and wilshere really upped his game today. Was also impressed with Kosc and Cazorla.
