Yeah think I will revoke the country mile part. However I still think Dack was clear man of the match.

2.57 best bit of the game.

even looking at it again was there guy offside for the first goal?...i had a straight line to his position at the time and he looked defo offside to me but didn't want to say anything until i saw the highlights...right in front of the lino as well.

also looking back on the Cody challenge in the box...was that a pen?

Brb I had a very near view on him as well (we must sit close) and thought he was offside.

No complaints on the loss, we did what we could against a strong Newcastle side, need to focus on the league now and get a win on Saturday.

Obviously I love the full house at priestfield but it does attract a few idiots, unfortunately when a group of blokes who clearly have never been before and were intent on abusing our players all game, start questioning why we're not screaming at the team etc then it starts to annoy me, my question to him was "so I'll see you Saturday then will I?" Predictably the answer was no.

I've looked at it a couple of times - I think Legge is behind Bywater ( and closer to the goal line ) that is playing Newcastle 'onside'.
The challenge on McDonald would be seen as a penalty as many times as not. I have to be fair to the referee and say that it looks like that, 'at worst' for the Newcastle defender, it was ball -and possibly - Cody's foot at the same time - probably enough doubt not to award a penalty.

edit - just looked at the goal again. I 'froze' the film at the point that Obertan - crossed the ball. Egan and Legge are behind Newcastle's most forward player ( look at it in view of the proximity of the six yard line across the goal - giving a good indicater of the relative position of the players)- therefore it doesn't look to be offside.

Without doubt, Newcastle had more quality than the Gills - but at least we defended better than Saturday and restricted them to not a lot.

I sit looking straight across the six yard line, when the ball was played he was definitely offside the video only shows him receiving it, also in the second half it was a definite hand ball in the area.

Grumpy / always, i was actually referring to the initial pass from De Jong to Obertan (i think) not the cross for the goal, so that's interesting actually that in 2 phases of play they appeared offside to people in line with play.

A shame of course, but hard to argue that Newcastle didn't deserve to win the game!

    Will do BRB.
