They're still trying to sell them, aren't they? I'm not suggesting a club killing boycott but maybe fans should wait until the last week of the transfer window before buying one....see how the board like it
I not going to bother buying one. I might see if I can loan one for a season and if I like what I see buy it for next season.
Why would anyone in their right mind want to buy a ST to watch that shite ? Celtics' season is already over and the club is in terminal decline.
If fans are upset at the board the best thing to do would be to protest. They would soon get the message. We must be downsizing for a reason though. Where the board have let themselves down in my opinion is waiting till now to get players in. We knew weeks ago we would be playing these games we should have done our business earlier.
Typical GB styled protests are ignored, it has to have a financial element to it to have an effect. Fans are nothing but customers to them now so they probably should act like a dissatisfied customer would. Some people wait to see the lineup before going to a concert
I think protests will work but it depends on what the fans hope to achieve. Don't expect us to go on a pending spree though because we haven't got the money.
We should have been bringing in players in January so they'd be ready now. I appreciate the manager left so that may not have worked, but young lads like Gauld and May could have been brought in over griffiths etc. we knew Forster would be off so should have had a keeper in (even Gordon) and played him 6 or 7 times in the league so they'd be up to speed. I'm not expecting millions to be spent, but we seem to buy a conveyor belt load of ****e for £500k - £1m as opposed to buying one or 2 quality players for the same price
What are you protesting against exactly? The club isn't going to spend £5m on a player to play in the weakest top division the Scottish game has ever seen. The only option we have is the one we're pursuing at the moment: developing young players and adding one or two players per season to fill in the spaces where current options aren't good enough. That's why Deila was brought to the club - his record speaks for itself. He needs time and patience from the fans to implement his plan. It's painful watching s**te like Ambrose, Balde, Pukki et al. masquerading as footballers but that's Lennon's fault for signing them. Deila's stuck with them in the meantime until he can either develop better alternatives through the youth ranks or identify cheap replacements that are better (which will require a fair bit of luck). Protesting will achieve nothing. If Lawwell leaves what difference will it make? The policy of developing youth and not spending money is here for the foreseeable. We may as well get used to it. The only thing I would protest against (if I were of a mind to start going back to watch games, which I'm not) is the cost of season tickets/match day tickets. No one should be paying more than a tenner per game to watch that s**te.
Lawell is giving an interview on Radio Clyde on Friday. I've heard he's going tell us Celtic have only made £5m profit in the last 5 years. I don't know if it's true but we'll see.
It won't be that far off it. We have been servicing our debt recently. Once we get truly debt free than I feel fans will be right in complaining if we make 5m on a player and don't reinvest that money.
With Deila coming in I think the board may be - rightly - moving to what we should have been doing years ago, much more in the way of developing our own young players - or those we can bring from elsewhere - and moulding them into a particular style of play. The economics of the constant buying of players in the 2-3 million bracket simply dont work, they dont work because the Scottish league is just one of many where often the other leagues are better financed. The market value of players is therefore not the same across the leagues. We can never compete through spending and still fans harp on about this. My main gripe would be that this should have been done long ago, ideally when rangers were liquidated , rather than blowing multi-millions on players who can only ever get you the occasional little taste of european " glory ". The only time I have been seriously worried about rangers was when they brought in Le Guen - it was obvious their boom/bust/buying success spending had to end and they had appeared to work out what to do with that. If they`d had the patience with Le Guen I think he would have made them a much stronger viable club. We had that window of opportunity when rangers were gone and should have used it more wisely rather than chase pointless records like unbeaten in the league/ 100 league points/ blah, blah, blah. The list of duds we wasted lots of money on during that time is staggering and tends to be covered up by a few notable exceptions. But we havent had any of those for a while and it really shows that that supposed model requires a fair bit of luck as well.
There doesn't need to be a spending spree but there has to be a,purchase of proven talent and I consider the Ryan Gaulds of Scottish football proven, James McArthys etc Players, for some reason, we won't buy that are cheap because they are Scottish youth , but we will spend twice the amount on someone else who's agents pals with John Park How much did Russell go for again? He's better than berget What happened to Darnell Fisher...did he get a new contract?
Delia was bought in for his free flowing football and bringing youth through. The board as usual thought we would scrape through to the group stages then splash abit of cash. After Legia away the board would have told him to hang back on the free flowing football and get abit of experience in To be fair Delia seems like one of those nerdy perfectionists, he has admitted to spending weeks studying the players on video to see where we needed to strengthen. He hasnt had time to scout much himself so has relied on who we have already scouted then look at who we can afford etc. I'd like to see him given time tp see what he can do long term. **** the Europa, no pressure, go out and entertain and get the kids in.
MTD spot on. There is good, if not great Scottish talent. Gauld should have been number 1 target, an heir to Commons if you like. We may have bid or had a word who knows but we should have let the kid know we would build the team around him, make him a star etc. If we can't sign the best youth in Scotland we've no ****ing chance!!
