18 in 90 over the last 4 years for a striker in the french ligue 2, not the best return. Saying that we hadnt replaced Vazquez yet. Maybe like for like.

Agree, third choice and worse case scenario back up striker in case both Bony and Gomis were injured.

"I have offers, notably from Freiburg in Germany and in England from Swansea. I am hesitating between the two,"

He'll need to scrub up on his Geography if he does sign for us!!!

ask 99 per cent of americans and they have no clue where Australia is so I don't think geography is well taught at schools around the world

I think the comment referred to us needing DM & fullbacks more than stickers.

We need a third striker, but Bakambu is aware that he may only be third choice here, assuming Bony doesn't go,so he may plump for Frieberg or Palace.

I don't understand this one at all.

    Even if we sell Bony we will have;
    1) Gomis (Physical)
    2) Emnes (Link man)
    3) Montero (Pace)
    and
    4) Barrow (pace)

If Bony goes I'd look to loan a young striker to compete with Gomis knowing we had 3 alternative options in the squad already.

We should be allocating this time and these resources towards securing a proper DM.
Starting to worry that we've agreed with either Cork or Stamboulli to wait for their contract to run down (as with Gomis) and Carroll is the stop gap....Carroll did look decent but he is no DM imo.

Given the timing of our transfer activities (I know we've been linked to Cork in the past) I reckon our real targets have not materialised and we're left flapping around.
Take the transfer of Fernandez. If we are to believe the club, he was only an interest after Chico 'unexpectedly ' left; so that was done and dusted in a couple of weeks.

We have known of the need for a DM since March so this is a real disappointment if we do not get a really good alternative to Leon.

I'm sure I read a quote of Monk's where he says he's only looking at a defender and possibly an attacker before the window shuts.....Kolo at LB (will be a good signing imo) and, it seems, Barrow at the end of this week....Bakambu as well would indicate that he's either intended as back-up to Gomis should Bony leave or that Barrow will be given a season in the development squad.

Bakambu doesn't look much cop to me.
We will regret not getting a proper DM in imo. The 6pts are papering over the cracks. It is now clear that this Man U team we beat is a poor, poor team....Burnley, we did enough but didn't control the centre of the park.
If we learn to keep clean sheets and become more clinical due to improved fire power we could amass a lot of points but control of the centre of the park has always been the key to football to me....if we don't have control there we will invite pressure and create less. Something will give eventually. Really wanted Stamboulli.

Can't see Canas being brought back in. I think we'll pay him off at the death of this window. He has had, after all, a pre season with the youth team and 0 minutes in games.

It's all gone quiet on the Stambouli/Cork transfers. It seems that everybody concurs that we need an experienced DM in quickly, except Monk, who favours Carroll, but as was seen last night, great prospect though he is,he is not a DM.

How did we not know Britton is out for months long ago ,instead of days before the window closes. Dont we have a medical team keeping a close eye on these things .

Even with Briton back we still need to sign another holding midfield player. Ki does ok there, but we would still be light weight in that position. Maybe with the recovery of Foulton they think he will be the cover.

On Satrurday we were unable to replace any of our Central 3 because we didnt have anyone good enough and that is with one injured. So yes we do need as Terror says another central Midfield Player.
