    A new one on me.. on the day we signed Luque all those years back....

    There are reports coming out of Spain that Rayo Vallecano forward Lass Bangoura wants out of the club. The 22 year old still has two years left on his contract with the Madrid based club but he still wants to find a new club before the transfer window closes which will put Newcastle United on alert. The Premier League side have recently been linked with a move for the youngster but they will face a race against time to sign him before the transfer window deadline at the end of the month.

    Spanish newspaper AS have reported that Bangoura was left out Rayo’s first game of the season this weekend as rumours grow that he will be leaving the club. The player made it clear to manager Paco Jemez a few weeks ago that he wanted to be transferred but the club were hoping to convince him to stay.

    Rayo were keen to keep hold of one their prized assets after his performances during preseason and they acted by slapping a €10m price tag on the forward because of the interest from other clubs. However as the transfer window deadline gets ever nearer and the fact that Bagoura wants to move his transfer fee has come down considerably. It has been revealed that Newcastle would now be able to land the player for as little as €1m.

    AS have claimed at the moment Newcastle are the best placed club to sign Bangoura but they will face competition from other clubs. Serie A side Fiorentina are monitoring the situation with the player but he could still remain in Spain by signing for fellows La Liga sides Malaga or Levante

    Never heard of him. Wikipedia says he's a right winger. Bit skeptical of another cheapo import when we really need top quality now, not numbers.

    My first thought.. It should be the law that all players have class names, like Rod Fanni, Stefan Kuntz and co. Although we once had a player named Bernt Haas.

    <laugh>

    You'll be hearing from my solicitor or if she's still out plying her trade on street corners then I'll have to get my lawyer involved.

    A man of my age has a certain reputation to protect.

    We desperately need a proven top class striker, preferably one who knows the league and can hit the ground running. Otherwise we are just handicapping the manager/team from the off.
