Opened up a 3 point lead at top with 3rd 1-0 win of season tonight. Not looking bad after 5 games, still undefeated.
If they ever get to a stage where loaning them our youngsters would be beneficial then it'd be fantastic!
They're looking good, glad to see last season wasn't just a flash in the pan. Hopefully they can get promotion to the Conference. Also I don't get this obsession with us loaning them players. We have York City not too far away who play two levels higher, or Scunthorpe at three leagues higher. If our youngsters were good enough, that's where we should be sending them.
I was told last season (by Les Hare himself) that a temporary stand was to be erected next to the snack hut if Ferriby were to gain promotion. Extra turnstiles were also fitted at the rear of the stadium. The stand obviously didn't go up as it wasn't required, I assume if they win the league they'll either continue with that or move grounds. The board are quite intent on pushing forward from what I've heard.
Intent & doing are different things, remember it's not Les's club any more & apparently a ground share is not possible upon promotion. The extra turnstile was for the current league requirement, There is no possibility of a new stadium in Ferriby as the one planned at Cappa Pass has been scrapped, so a new ground may involve moving out of Ferriby after which it's not really the same club
Bloody hell - I know I've been away for many a moon, but when did Cappa Pass go out of business ? I worked there in '66. Would have been a good location for a new ground - what's the story there ? PS: Is The Duke of Cumberland still going strong ? Waited there between '63 & '65. Great pub it was.
I heard MS3 was touted as an option until they did the upgrades needed. Moving the 3G back was also an option, but it would involve purchasing the field behind.
A three year plan...year 1 - loan to NFU, year 2 - loan to York, year 3 - Scunny loan. year 4 - prem league & european competition.
That brought back some memories TC. As a university student I worked for Capper Pass on the bypass construction in the late 50s....bloody hard work in the summer heat. Also the Duke was my pub in the early 60s before I emigrated. Great pub indeed!
Originally the plans for the site (which has now been cleared of it's toxic content) were for light industrial units & the plans actually included a new football stadium as an integral element, however those plans have been changed to more lucrative residential development with no stadium included
Yes the Duke is still there, I used to go to the Duke in the mid sixties, did you ever go to the concert room up stairs on a Sunday evening, that is where I first say Mike Ronson with the Rats?
There's nothing but fields either side of Ferriby High Road, I don't know why they wouldn't just move there, better access and they could build parking and whatever else they needed.
Saw my first ever gig in their upstairs room. Be Bop Deluxe. Got breathalyzed leaving the carpark. As I was taking the designated driver seriously I hadn't had a drop which pissed them off no end.
I once got stopped on Willerby road, asked if I had been drinking, which I answer yes I had, they breathalysed me and it was zero, did it again as they thought the machine was faulty, was zero again. Was then ask what I had been drinking, I told them 3 glasses of Orange, and I said with a smile on my face, well you didn't ask me whether it was alcoholic or not. They were totally pissed off, saying I has wasted police time.
