i always felt it was because carrick was always injured and so lampard had to play which ****ed england up as unlike lampard gerrard was versatile and got shifted around which wasn't good from an england point of view. i know we have barkeley etc coming through now, but think we have missed a trick with the england team we had of cole,.lampard,gerrard,terry and a better rooney etc. ****e managers havent helped obviously, esp roy.

As Carragher said, if Scholes was such a brilliant midfield playmaker Ferguson wouldn't have signed Veron to play in that role for Man Utd. He was a good player carried by the great players around him.
