It don't surprise me. I tell you there is something really bad at our club at the moment Just feel that it's all coming to a head
Please Evans either Sell the club and walk away OR show some bloody interest and back the manager with some cash!
Warky, i think if MM said he wanted someone like Collison then ME would say no problem!! I think MM is happy with the hard working **** he has!! Not being funny but i bet 80% would rather see Lawrence in midfield than say Skuse, yet Mick gets rid of the forward thinking player and keeps the defrnsive thinking player.
The problem is Spanish that no one at the club can be straight with us by telling us what the strategy is if indeed such a thing exists! Evans really needs to man up and face up by giving a clear statement as to our financial position and his intentions for this season!
Totally agreed, thing is, its in his interest to do so because at the moment people are up in arms and wanting him out!! Along with MM of course!!
JWM - nail hit firmly on the head for me. I have said it many times in the past and still believe it to this day. If Evans wants to be annonymous thats fine but you need a figure head at the club who acts as the public face. Sheepshanks for his faults was brilliant at this. Come good or bad he would be there talking to the press and when he came out and said something it was generally the truth, or not far from it. He gave us his 5 year plan and we could all see the footsteps that lead to that great afternoon at wembley. Before that you had the Cobbolds who, as we all know, were brilliant at public interactions, albeit not in a pc way by todays boring standards. What seems to have been lost at PR in recent years (basically the ME era) is that we have always been a community club and this works both ways. Its the way we should be. I dont think they give a damn about fans in all honesty over than a way to generate cash. Yeah - I know that is the main aspect of being a supporter but it used to feel like we were important as people and that we had some 'ownership' of the club albeit in a sentimental and unimportant role.
Spanish dear chum Keane isn't incharge now Interesting few days ahead mind you. Patently obvious we need a few in!
One of the best posts ever! Spot on mate...and Warky's and Spanish! Oh how we miss the Cobbold era! They loved their club...our club too. Now my attachment is waning too bloody fast!
Dont give up all hope yet Gaffer me old mucker! This could be just a small part of a fiendishly cunning plan!
I hope your right Warky, MM really has to pull a few rabbits out the hat to retrieve this situation and if he loans a defensive midfielder i will just give up i think!! If he sign at least 3 quality attacking players i will come over and suck Westy dry!!
Would loaning a defensive midfielder be an absolute disaster in all honesty!?!?! We only have Tabb / Hyam/ Skuse and Bru in the middle. A decent defensive mid may not be as bad as it sounds IF he can pass the ball well too, AND we actually play a winger wide left and not Tabb. I know we don't still have him, but N'daw alongside Hyam with Anderson/ Stewart wide wouldn't be a disaster for a midfield would it? If we sign 3 quality attacking players Spanish can you please tell me how we'd play them, bearing in mind we have McGoldrick to play for a start?
Put it this way, i dont rate Murphy or Sammon or Anderson or Tabb or Skuse, all could be replaced, there is five for ya!!
Westy, most teams only play one def midfielder, you have just named 3, and want another, how many do you need?
I think your line 2 says everything for me. A truly defensive CM is not an issue if you have flair around him. We have fairly defensive minded, surrounded by fairly defensive minded with not overly clinical forwards! combined with fairly unadventurous fullbacks Man City do it currently and we done it especially well under Burley. Solid CBs, Solid CM's attacking full backs protected by the solidity in the middle of the pitch, attack minded widemen and little and large upfront. Midfield is our key and at present we seem to lack both numbers and variety. Henshall had a bit of promise. Anderson, Im not sure if under instructions, seems to cut in to make us narrow all the time, Hunt doesnt take anyone on, Stewart may be the answer. Although your last line was aimed at Spanish, for me the answer is 1 poacher type (we dont have) at least one fast wideman who can cross and take on players and a box to box central midfielder with an eye for goal - hollandesque I suppose. Maybe not all for the starting line up but we do need variety to enable us to change games.
We most deffo need a fox in the box type and we need pace, without any pace you are screwed these days!!
Now Spanish that would be a sight for sore eyes! Don't rate your chances for either last two points mate!
