See all you Pompey fans in August, probably make a weekend out of it. Should be a good one.

I wouldn't rule this one out altogether, that would be foolish.
Chops went, and although that was perhaps a good thing given his behaviour during the last few months, many think 1.5 for him was below value.
Would certainly be an asset for Portmouth and perhaps not considered so highly by the new regime we have?

I say this because this rumour is gathering momentum.

MM likes skilful footballers, so he is likely to want to keep Whitts, this is all up in the air, with 2 years on his contract, and under no real pressure to sell it will be interesting to see which way this goes...................IF MM has success with his transfer targets, well he might let Whitts go, if he doesn't get to sign a lot of his targets,,,,,,well why should he let one of the quality players in his squad go for what is a fairly low bid? Whitts had a great season the year before last, but had started to look a bit stale under DJ last year...............MM has come in like a breath of fresh air, and might just be able to reinvigorate Whitts and turn him back into the goalscoring midfielder we all know he can be....................a 15+ goal scoring creative midfielder, with a good championship pedigree.............makes Pompey's bid look a bit of a joke <ok>

haha, fair enough, but still, why the heck would whitts go there, they wont get promoted next season, and theres a decent chance we will.

also proph do you know how long he's got left on his contract, like has he been rewarded for scoring like 20 goals that season and like 10 last season or is he still on relatively low wages?

Swamp, apparently they've been taken over by some Russian sports investors so 'Play up Pompski' might now be appropriate :)

But then you really would look silly if he left...

Seriously though, £1.5 million? Are they joking? Somebody tell me that's a joke? Double it (and the rest...) then maybe we can talk business...

Under their CVA, they couldn't possibly afford his fee or his wages, the FA would never approve this, this story is dead in the water.

I have only seen this reported on WOL, is it posted anywhere else? I don't look at the Sun, Mirror or Star but not seen anything on the Independent web site.

Selling Whitts would tell me 100% that we were aiming for mid-table mediocrity on the cheap!

If there is any truth to the Norwich link and MM wants to keep him, then that would be the biggest threat obviously...
If MM doesn't want the player then it would be highest bidder gets first option I reckon...but he'd be piling extra pressure on himself to bring in quality and get them playing from day 1 or face early questions as to why be let proven quality players leave with nobody there to take their place?

The other thing everybody has to take into consideration is this. It is Summer there is no football as such, the newpapers will print anything to fill up the space as they know that it is mostly blokes who read the sports pages and dont give a flying f*ck about Tennis etc, therefore they will print every rumour that they hear, the bigger sports reporters will know Agents and will pump them for info.
Look at Sky Andrews what an absolute plum he is. Why do players stick with him is beyond me but he will put it around that this club or that club is interested in players from his stable, bugger me Jay has been linked with allsorts and guess what. Its all been printed. We all crave news about our clubs, but if you could possibly not buy a paper or visit the forums from now until August i think you would all be pleasantly surprised as to our New starting line up. I cant do it, wish i could !!!:emoticon-0100-smile
