So Venkys have gained their PR points by saying Rhodes isn't for sale. Rhodes himself only signed a new long term contract last month, so if he wants the move he's the one that's gonna have to make it happen by handing in a transfer request. Then Venkys either have to truly show their intent by refusing his request, or let him go 'under pressure from the player' being the normal line trotted out. Until City sign their number two target (whoever that maybe) clearly the dialogue between the clubs continues?
It's an interesting one, I know there is not supposed to be any tapping up, but an uncle talking to his Nephew, surely there will be a word or two into his "shell like"
My biggest concern is the clock's ticking regards the transfer window closing and we get caught out like we did with Long last year, if he has the ambition to play in the premier, why did he sign a five year contract(am aware contract's mean nothing these days)a month or so ago, does it mean lack of ambition, comfortable were he is, While its apparent that at championship level he's deadly, I would have thought that we would have been in a fight with other clubs to sign him, but no its just city. The other thing is he's just signs a five year contract on a reported £45000 per week, city will have to match that, transfer fee plus wage's mega money. not being negative, just hope it turns out ok.
We seem to be the one club in The Prem at present following a buy British only policy, and playing the premium that goes with it! Brucey obviously keen to retain the obvious 'team spirit' around the club. That said if you believe the press we are linked with strikers in France and Holland, and 3 players from Borrusia Dortmund! So I suspect this is the fall back position if our first targets can't be secured. Personally I would have thought if we can't get our first choices in we would look at British loans from other Prem clubs?
There was a quote from Bruce here that they haven't set up a foreign scouting system, but they hope to have one in place during the next year. A bit late really, but hopefully something is set up.
The transfer centre live, are reporting that Blackburn have turned down a third bid from city an hour ago.
If it really is now 3 bids without success, and we're up to £12m, then you've gotta consider pulling the plug haven't you. Frustrating that we got mixed messages from them, but those oddballs who run Blackburn won't be easy to deal with. Even for our oddballs!
Agree with this Party, though Ehab apparently deals with this stuff and as far as I can tell or guess he has been straight with them. IF Rhodes wants this he'll bang in the transfer request, if he doesn't then he clearly doesn't want to be here enough! (By the way did you get my email?)
I did, I replied to it on here I believe. I'll email you from work today if you are able to have a look?
looks like the venkys need the money soon http://www.brfcs.com/mb/index.php/t...-co-lose-l36million-in-year-to-31-march-2014/
What that says to me (if the Mercerman chap is correct about the creditors and the Venkys believing they can get promoted), is that we're more likely to get Rhodes in the January window, if presumably we still want him. If the creditors start calling in the debts between now and Christmas they may not be able to hold onto their prized asset. I'd be interested to see what Peter Saxton thinks of that linked discussion!
Transfer Centre Live ‏@TransferCentreL Blackburn Rovers have today rejected a third bid from Hull City for striker Jordan Rhodes.
I suspect the Venkys are now waiting for Rhodes to put in a transfer request, so that they can save face with the supporters and presumably some cash too.
Obviously not, Tickles would be posting this about 6 hours after it was originally broken, not 1 hour...
