After an entertaining warm up act in City vs Liverpool, this week's biggest game fast approaches. Top of the Barclays Premier League Tottenham take on second placed in the Cypriot First Division in the second installment of a true continental clash of the titans. They played for both: Still no player has ever played for both clubs. Some say it's just because they're an obscure team that produce no players of note and couldn't attract any of our former players, I say it's because of the bitter rivalry that has been simmering for days, stemming from when we beat them and they got upset. Picture section(by request): Image could not be found Line ups: ITV 4(1-3-2) Adrian Chiles Gordon Strachan, Random ex-Liverpool player, Clarke Carlisle Andy Townsend, Clive Tyldesley Prediction: 6-0 Soldado hattrick, Holtby x2, Davies. Additional comments: TBC
Is this game bigger than the World Cup or Champions League final? Two monumental giants who top their respected domestic Leagues... It's going to be EPIC!
They are not quite as top as we are, but yes, epic. Is it on tv? Or would this match be too likely to cause power outages due to the electricity in the stadium?
That's a good question, I certainly wouldn't blame any station for choosing not to show it. I doubt Wiziwig will have any links either, the servers will surely explode. Amazed I managed to get a ticket, it's going to be an occasion that'll live long in the memory that's for sure.
They played for both : Paul Stewartides Commentary team : I predict the return of Paul the pundit Pulis.
All I see is Spurs I'm afraid. Unable to afford the air-fare, the cyrpiots will be pretty tired after a full days rowing to get the team trireme to London. This really is a battle of David and Goliath, and just like in the David and Goliath story, someone will be wearing a loin cloth. Spurs 3 Cyrpus 0
Top of the league Spurs meet Cypriot giants Aerosol FC, in the much-anticipated clash of the titans! It's going to be a classic!
That'll be you, won't it? Chiriches is apparently available for this one, which is a little unexpected. I'd stick him in with Vertonghen and hope to sub the Belgian in the second half if everything's going well. Friedel; Naughton, Chiriches, Vertonghen, Davies; Sandro, Dembele; Townsend, Paulinho, Lennon; Kane. Bench: Lloris, Kaboul, Dier, Capoue, Holtby, Ceballos, Adebayor.
Can anyone confirm or deny if Velkjovic is in our Europa squad? If he is, it'd be good if he got a run out at some point in the game.
Pocket's used MK Dons as an example of a David v Goliath upset and is concerned about an upset tonight. I understand his concern but being new to Spurs he knows nothing about our traditions and our ability to thrash teams when we are playing well early on in the season. I applaud him for not getting carried away by recent victories but I think he's worrying far too much about tonight's outcome.
I dunno, i can remember countless incidents of us f**ing it up major style. Were we 3-0 up against Utd and lost 5-3? Losing that FA cup game to terrible 10-man City side, etc etc. Need to keep those players from getting complacent
Yes Spurm but Utd were in the middle of a 21 year not losing streak against us and FA Cup is a different kettle of fish and you've just given another example of 10 beating 11, thank you. We won't lose tonight.
