In the Dull Daily today that McGuire could being back to Sheff Utd on loan depending how we do on Thursday.
And Bruce. But yes, we do need him, partly because he upgrades the current starting XI and partly because, in the current formation, we'll need four CBs free from injury/suspension every match. In an ideal world we'll be fielding Chester, Dawson and Davies every week, but in reality one and sometimes two of them will be out for much of the time. (PS Is Maguire on track to be the most misspelt City player of all time?)
Would be a poor move for him back to Sheffield utd, if he's to go out on loan it has to be to a championship club at least.
That list isn't good enough for a Premier League club. McGuire is unproven and seemingly not signed with a view to 14/15 season and all the others will benefit from the quality and experience Dawson possesses. Dawson is an excellent fit for the stage we are at.
I doubt it as this dubious honour must surely go to Jon Vinegar of Hessle Road (Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink) who not only had that many variations of his name being mis-spelled (not 'misspelt') but also had the dubious honour of having to have to have two shirts to get his full name on (that was a joke Ethel).
Great signing for you guys, Daws is a Spurs Legend. Gutted to see him go if I'm honest but I know the move is in his best interests. I reckon he and Davies will strike up a good pairing. Not sure who your captain is but it wouldn't surprise me if Bruce made Daws captain at some point or asked him to take on some form of leadership role in the squad. He's a very vocal character, organises the defence well and is someone who's well respected by his peers. Expect to see him give 100% every game, never shies away from a challenge and will bleed for the crest on the shirt. His only real weakness is pace. Really hope you guys grow to love him as we do, absolute top guy, probably the best £3m you lot will spend.
No doubt the fee will be undisclosed, but if its for the reported £3m then good business for someone with his experience and professionalism. Before anybody starts harping on about his age, he is 5 years younger than Ferdinand! A serious contender for future captain or asst?
MacGuire can't go back to Sheffield United, he needs to play at a higher level to push forward his game.
