I was never really a big fan of The Housemartins, but they are one of the few big pop acts that have been truly synonymous with the city. It's absurd that we don't use one of their songs, and this one seems a perfect fit, instead of that ****ing Wise Men Say ****e that a couple of other clubs use.
Paul Heaton's a bit of a twat, but they're a decent band. It would be nice to have a song synonymous with the club.
Everybody get practicing...
I hope theres not an intention of singing the whole thing lol takes abit long to get going for a football song
Since this thread I've been constantly been singing/ humming Caravan of love, it's decent and it'll be ours no one else's. If Falling in love with you is still used the best version by far IMO is Andy Williams it's the most upbeat version, brought a tear to me eye at Wembley Play off Final
Please can we now scrap this falling in love ****, it gets more cringeworthy everytime we sing it. It's a Sunderland anthem, it always has been.
The lyrics are great. Maybe soon people will be saying how come it took so long to be our song. From the highest mountain Not sure about this line. Where is that exactly? The County Road Flyover?
Are you ready Are you ready Are you ready Are you ready Are you ready for the time of your life It's time to stand up and fight It's alright It's alright Hand in hand we take a caravan to the mother land One by one we gonna stand up with pride One that can't be denied Stand up Stand up From the highest mountain, valley low We'll join together with hearts of gold Now the children of the world can see This is a better place for us to be The place in which we were born So neglected and torn apart Every woman every man Join the caravan of love (Stand up) stand up Stand up Everybody take a stand Join the caravan of love (Stand up) stand up Stand up I'm your brother I'm your brother don't you know She's my sister She's my sister don't you know We'll be living in a world of peace And the day when everyone is free We'll bring the young and the old Won't you let your love flow, from your heart Every woman every man Join the caravan of love (Stand up) stand up Stand up Every body take a stand Join the caravan of love (Stand up) stand up Stand up I'm your brother I'm your brother don't you know She's my sister She's my sister don't you know So are you ready ( he's coming ) Are you ready ( he's coming ) Are you ready ( he's coming ) Are you ready ( he's coming on the caravan ) You better get ready ( go for it ) You better get ready ( go for it ) You better get ready ( go for it ) You better get ready
If it's to be adopted as a terrace chant then it clearly needs shortening, the chorus is a must... 'Every woman every man join the caravan (transit van?) from Hull STAND UP! (Loud) STAND UP! (LOUDER) STAND UP! LOUDER Everybody make a stand join the transit van from Hull STAND UP! STAND UP! STAND UP! I like that bit, it's almost a call to arms but it's too short, but the next bit of the song 'he's my brother... she's my sister' could lead to accusations of 'you're just a town full of inbreds' from rival fans. Needs tweaking.
As was Blue Moon at Champions Manchester City last night. Instead of looking for negatives let's just do it eh?
Have you seen the comments? Some proper ****ing mongs on there!!! "What relevance does it have to City?"
