It is absolutely disgusting that people can't attend a carnival without wanting to stab each other and bring chaos to the lcoal community.
Mind you, there's a high profile football fixture that used to take place in Glasgow a couple of times a year which attracted signifcant numbers of arrests and woundings etc. I wouldn't label Glasgow, or the entire fan bases of both clubs, as scum purely based on that.

I often chortle to myself when reference is made to the violence at OF games. I've been to well over 50 or more of these ties and never seen anything violent at the games*, though that's not to say that plenty of stuff goes on away from the games. The Rangers vs Aberdeen games always attracted more headcases. The dandies would spend 3-4 hours coming down to Glasgow whilst getting tanked up and go nuts when the bus doors opened.

But the 100% worst fans to ever come to Ibrox in all the years that I've watched Rangers were the Feyenoord fans. Made even worse by the fact that we should've knocked them out and they went on to win the tournament. A young Van Persie gaped us De Kuip. Van Hooidonk diving all over the shop, winning free kicks and scoring from them and we missed 3-4 great chances to go through.

So, favourite brand of tea?

*I lie, I remember we went to the old Parkhead and a scrap broke out before the game but that was in 1992 I think...

True, but football's based on rivalry and has always attracted violence (google Celtic v Rangers games from the 1920s).

 

The Notting Hill carnival has a certain "rivalry" of its own and always attracted violence.

 

True,in the early days there was always trouble with the Race Riots in the '50's and immortalised in that fantastic movie Absolute Beginners
