    Ah, somebody lifted your stone.

What hypocrisy? The guy was a kid himself in very challenging circumstances, he was wrong and he was punished, he has followed a path of rehabilitation and not been seen to be anything other than contrite for his actions. He was not being considered for a youth role, he was being spoken of in relation to an adult professional footballer opening. So explain yourself, draw your comparison and explain the hypocrisy? <ok>

Think about it, you might just get there, eventually. You keep telling me I don't know stuff yet you fail to explain yourself, simply doing your normal throwing of insults. Have you worked out the significance of that (your) 40% yet?

You said "I would be more than a tad annoyed with Rednapp if I had a lad in his youth set-up."

Why is Mboyo allowed to be involved in professional football, but not Gascoigne?

I think he's already answered your question adequately.

Fair enough. If a rapist can play football then Paul Gascoigne can coach young kids.

Also, I'm around the same age as Mboyo when he raped someone, and I've never had the urge to gang rape a 14-year-old. The "challenging circumstances" point is bollocks.

Yes, I would be annoyed with Redknapp. He made an off-the-cuff offer for a position working with children as some form of coach - a supervisory and role model requirement is in that role, a position that you would expect there to be standard checks made as to suitability (what was CRB), Gasgoine would be highlighted for a number of reasons. It's sad, but true, that Gasgoinge still struggles to overcome his demons and maintain an acceptable level of sobriety and temper control.
Harry Redknapp meant well, but his comment (I doubt he would or could of backed it up) was thoughtful and thoughtless all at the same time. What he (Redknapp) did get right was his following remark that it was now time for Paul Gasgoine to help himself.

And beat a woman so hard he broke her arm.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, what do most people on this thread think when they see a smackhead begging for drugs money? Is it 'bless him, he's had a struggle with his illness'? or is it 'you lowlife waster, you deserve everything you get'? I'll answer my own question, I would wager the majority (even if it's 51%/49%) would be the latter. So why is a smackhead viewed less sympathetically than an alcoholic?

I think most people who see this thread think "Christ, is that thread still going?"

I'd guess it's because there's a lot of posters who show ignorance of mental illnesses.

And a lot show hypocrisy regarding different addictions when they are essentially the same.
