Match of the Day 2 pundits Kevin Kilbane and Shay Given say Mario Balotelli will be an instant hit at Liverpool. (BBC Football website) Yes, we all know he will, on account of the very simple fact that Klanfield is the last bastion for utter twats.
I genuinely think he'll be a hit - for at least a season anyway. He needs a club with an enigmatic manager who'll 'put the arm round him' - the opposite of Mancini - and a club at which the fans always have two/three players to hero worship. Liverpool is a great fit. He'll be loved as soon as he starts scoring and should respond to that. Interesting that his agent Raiola has highlighted they chose to move partly because Mario won't have the same responsibility at LFC as at Milan due to Gerrard etc. Must be something in that. Pirlo has also commented recently on Mario's improved temperament. Don't think he'll do what Luis did but he is an undeniable match-winner and will be a success if he nets 15-20 a season, which he should be capable of.
I think the Prem needs "characters" like Balotelli, since very few players are able to write the headlines on the front of the Sunday hack-sheets, these days. Of course, that's also the very reason why I don't want such "characters" anywhere near Spurs.
Hey, guys! I'm really looking forward to the start of your CL campaign. How big a hiding do you think you'll suffer in your first match?
Not unreasonable. It certainly look like Liverpool could use him. A nice pass found Henderson alone in front of the keeper, but he was unable to do anything with it. If it's Balotelli, it very likely would have been 1-0 Liverpool. But you just don't know how a player with a history of alienating his team will do. Some of them find teams that make them comfortable, and/or mellow with age. Some don't.
If the score remains as it is Rodgers will be under pressure next Monday after only taking 3points from the first 3 games and already 6 points off the pace.
Blimey! I predicted that 'Pool would be bad, but I never expected them to be this dreadful! Never rely on 'Pool to help Spurs out in the year of our title challenge.
...and bang goes our top spot! Useless 'Pool! [edit] Well done, Lambert, for doing a good "agent's" job for your old boss, Poch.
Balotelli is going to be looking at 'Pool tonight and thinking to himself, "What the **** have I just got myself into!"
Perhaps the empty seats are due to flatulence from Taglatelle. Makes a change, it normally ventures out of the other end
