I am a season ticket holder but I work away from the area for half the season. It is my intention to allow friends and family to use my pass while I am away. I wont allow the club to sell my seat due to the fact they only give me credit in the club shop. As most of the merchandising is **** I don't want that. A Man Utd season ticket holder I work said that they sell your ticket and give the season ticket holder 3/4 of the ticket price. That is how it should be at City.
The last thing the club wants is fans sharing passes, they already have that money & sharing passes means less pay on the day or match by match income. Equally as I have my pass who should be able to tell me how many games I must attend, in fact I know one passholder who lives overseas & only makes 3-4 games a season but still buys a pass......who is the better fan ? Someone who effectively pays £100+ a game or someone who goes to every game & pays £15 ??
But buying Cup & Euro tickets (not this year) is a condition of pass ownership at Man U, you know it when you apply
But fans already share passes, and a seat empty for games draws no extra income. I've no idea why you raise the "better fan" or being told how many games to attend. That's clearly not the suggestion. Other clubs do a number of options on passes as they realise not everyone can make every game. Rather than paying for a seat you can't use, it's looking at opportunities that would work for the club and the fans.
They text you to say if you don't purchase your cup tickets your pass will be rejected for the next league game! Too many threats for me! But 70 thousand or so must be happy with it?
I don't think the Man Utd method is wrong, apart from the threats with regards the cup matches. Earns the club a little bit more money and also increases the attendance figures. City's method is total ****e.
