A drunken brawl on home soil would probably be the only thing Ipswich would be favourites for these days.

    Having said that....

A like warkys little camp rhymes.

    Makes me look straight.

Sorry mate...not my most literate piece...it's the day after! You get the gist tho. In my more pessimistic frame, I can see us spiralling headlong into oblivion after a 4th defeat in row at Derby. However.....if we nick a hard earned point, battle away, come away with pride restored....who knows.

    Cheers San Diego!
Yeah you could be right. Mick's safe tactics have kept us fairly steady and I am grateful for that. But is he the man with a plan to take us forward? Maybe not, but I'm scared we'd replace him with another disaster!

What I saw of Scott Loach was pretty decent but he never got much of a look in. I could be wrong?

I miss the George Burley/Joe Royle days

Actually, that said... Burley did loose the plot a bit.

Finidi George and Matteo Sereni spring to mind <doh>

You do have to be careful what you wish for and I'm not sure who would want to manage us under the current financial constraints.
It would no doubt be a lower league manager but I still feel that we could and should be capable of better results with the squad we have.
Mick, for all his so called Yorkshire balls, rarely makes a brave decision so I don't expect much to change for the Derby match, unfortunately.

I'm at work and had a job interview in Nice Friday so only caught the final 10 mins of it at Nice airport Saturday!

Clear as day we need investment A S A P. I'll go through this thread now and read, we'll definitely lose at Derby Saturday.

I'm glad we're trying to abide by FFP but jesus this season could be one almighty struggle if we don't get 3 or 4 in A S A P.

Hoping Parr/ Stewart down the left will be a start, Ambrose on a deal and Collison please.

MASSIVE week this. Derby is an absolute write off as far as I'm concerned, 3-0 coming up.

We desperately need a few. I won't panic yet as I judge the table after 12 games or so. However, non-too amused with the defeat to Norwich and more so the performance or lack of that everyone has mentioned.

As I recently said Mick puts himself under pressure to get results due to the style of play. If we lose, he will get a lot of stick because the football is not remotely pretty on the eye. However, when we win I feel he gets very little support from some, and others won't acknowledge he's a decent manager.

He MUST be very confident of landing a few this week after Wordy/ Taylor has gone. If this is to be our squad from here until May, I will be slightly worried. However, if we get a little bit of quality in certain areas we'll do alright I'm sure.

This could be a d-day week for us under McCarthy though. He does need some backing from Evans.

How can we acknowledge he is a decent manager when he clearly is not!! He can steady a ship but he cant take it forward, his thinking and tactics is not for the modern game, you back him by all means but i am telling you, he will NOT get us in top ten, let alone play offs, if you are happy with that then fair play, thats your perogative but i thought the idea was to improve and move forward?

Of course he's a decent manager Spanish I think you're well and truly on your own if you think he's not......

Style of play however at present - abysmal and I cannot dispute that. It's absolutely awful ! New recruits badly needed....

LOL, thats not unusual for me to be on my own, i just dont rate him, yes he kept us up but since then his brand of football is shocking, christ even the fecking inbreds have been able to rip **** out of us!!
Still, we are all entitled to our opinion and it does make for interesting reading!!

Seeing as this has become a In-Out straw poll, I'm declaring myself remaining in the 'in' camp. Some of this is my natural optimism, (I'm usually one of the last to call for a managers head) another part is my frustration with this endless 2 year cycle of managers - Whoever we get will inevitably want to get in their own squad and the whole team building period will start again. We need stability. I also still think we're not as in a bad situation as some on here are making out. I don't understand some of the recent decisions MM has been making regarding the squad but similar unpopular decisions worked out last season. If it were me I would have waited until Stewart was back from injury before loaning out our creativity but we don't know who Mick is looking at from premier league squads.

That being said, my support for Mick is fragile. The style of play is not what I would like to see from Ipswich and I have my doubts that Mick is the right manager to be at the receiving end of a youth production line. MEs policy of limiting transfer funds may be more effective if we had a manager who looked to blooding new youth over getting in premier league freebies -although are the youth we're producing championship standard yet? We dont know, the Crawley game and the reserve results from last season would suggest not but having one or two come through to the first team would obviously be different to youth and fringe playing as a second 11.

Ask me again at Christmas but for now I'm remaining positive.

To those of you that have seen Matt Clarke, is he better than Mings?? He sounded like a real accomplished defender who is very good on the ball!

    Mike
Fair enough bud, as mentioned before i can see why some are still backing Mick, time will tell!!

    Likewise Mike, 100% agreed.

Spanish liking you tonnes more this season mate, we disagree but you will listen to other peoples viewpoints a lot more kudos to that.

We all just want what's right for our footy club! :)

Not seen enough of Clarke or Parr for that matter to say of they are better than Mings, I would think Parr is coming from Palace etc.
It is not that I (or others probably) think he is rubbish, I just don't think he is our best option in that position at this time!
