The MOTD2 highlights made Stoke look like Barcelona and us look like North Ferriby. Thus making us look lucky to hold out for a draw when Stoke were the lucky ones. ****ing muppets.
How? They clearly showed we were robbed. Stoke had a lot more great chances. What was wrong with those highlights? Also - they are praising us in the analysis. And criticising the referee.
From where I was sat in South stand I could see it. The more I see it replayed, the worse it looks. That really is a cock up of massive proportions.
They just spent 90% of that analysis praising us. And finally a pundit that gets it. Neil Lennon: "They're going to enjoy going places in Europe and they should do because they deserve it."
For the first 14 minutes Stoke didn't get a kick and the first thing we see is Chester getting sent off. Then for large parts of the game Stoke were truly awful. If you were a neutral you would watch that and think 'Well Stoke deserved that slice of luck as they were far the better side'. When they wern't.
The thing they missed was how dominant we were at 11v11 - they weren't getting a kick for the first 15 minutes. I think it's funny how our good football is overlooked. Everyone knows about Swansea and Southampton but most people don't seem to realise we aren't just another hoofing small club and actually play good football. But since the red card came so early that dominance was basically irrelevant to the game and you could get a better understanding of it in a small time by focussing on our good defending for the rest of the game.
I will give the pundits credit in fact Lennon even got the point in that after defending for so long the last thing in the world we needed was for a blind lino to completely miss who the ball came off. It just pisses me off that editors of football matches can and do make a game look so different from reality.
Please, when did anyone on MOTD tonight suggest we were lucky? Oh wait... Nobody seems to have called us **** either - I'm pretty certain it's near impossible to call us that when we're in Europe? As Morrissey said... What Difference Does It Make?
From watching the highlights, im not sure who was at fault more for the Chester sending off.. McShane or Livermore? Chester had no choice but to go for the ball, cant really blame him. Also for the stoke goal, obviously the officials were shocking but it looked like McGregor should have done better when the ball bounced off the post... he kind of flapped at it... either way, happy with a point given the circumstances. Back 4 for next weeks game against Villa please Bruce, Rosie Dawson Davies Roberston
Actually, the punditry was spot on. The pictures were deceptive, but as last match and a drab draw no one (the whole world watches MOTD ) wants to see heroic defending and grit. It may be majestic and inspiring to us home fans but it is like watching paint dry when set next to goals and flash Harry's. Deal with it.
The maddening thng with the sending off is, the referee's initial thought of the incident is that Chester deserved a yellow card i.e. as the ref's walking up, from the upper West, you could clearly see his hand in his right pocket, as he gets to the edge of the area, he pauses, takes his hand from his right pocket and then produces the red from his left ....... my guess ? The linesman was the driving force behind the red card.
Liked Mark Chapman's comment when showing the table.... "Still unbeaten Hull are up to 5th on 4 points." It's only two games in, but it's still good to see we haven't ****ed up the start to the season like so many "experts" predicted we would with the Europa League.
It really is a huge game for all aspects of the club. We really need to come out strong and win this game.
