Not really, players probably by association have a charity that is more likely to benefit. My Mum for her recent 60th in May asked for donations that went to her favoured local charity, then at her funeral on the 15th August the donations were collected and donated again to her favourite charity. So since May this local charity has had circa £2,500 - which as it's a local charity, it benefits local people. It doesn't get lost in the Oxfam (or equivalent) juggernaut.

But you don't get a testimonial for being in your 10th year, it's for playing 10 years. If he wants to leave ahead of his testimonial but still get the testimonial money isn't that having his cake and eating it? And again, if he wants to give to charity he's in a much better position to do that than most. Andy Dawson made a loss on his own testimonial match due to what the club charged him for policing and stuff. And he actually did stay for 10 years.

Didn't we have this with Snodgrass too? Something about a loyalty bonus for leaving when they get relegated? It's all bollocks.

Who the **** does?! But if Dawson won't leave until Levy/Spurs agrees to pay the charity the money they'd get from his testamonial then it's pretty pathetic from them and Dawson deserves some credit

Where did this story about his testimonial come from? Is it a fact or just guessing?

Dear me. Ths has descended from speculation into arguing over speculation as if it was fact.

Speculate by all means but don't get angry about things that are guesses at best.

He already has his cake. He can stay at Spurs, pick up his wages and have a testimonial year. After 9 years I think its reasonable for Michael Dawson to say I'm interested but what about my charity. Levy can tell him no and he can stay at Spurs and take his testimonial year.

Would you rather he just told the charity, "sorry I could have earned hundreds of thousands of pounds for you this year but I'm off to Hull City, its a tough world".

Pitty he turned into a bit of a **** and got a bit far up Jimmys ass.

It was a sad end for sure, but neither side did themselves proud.

To be fair if he did want to give them the money he could just donate a couple of week's wages.

He hasn't earned his testimonial yet so if that's what's holding it up he can go **** himself. Regardless what the money's for.

Not sure where i suggested you did.

My point was if you're going to make a point of highlighting when you're right, it would be fair to highlight when you're wrong.

I would think he's donated quite a lot of money over the last 10 years. A testimonial year isn't just about the player giving his own money but about encouraging other people to give as well. His charity will get a huge amount of publicity during the year, and with publicity comes money. I would think he'll ask his team mates to chip in with a donation, as well as former team mates. If he asked Tom and Jake do you think they'd refuse? If he does ask do you think a £10 donation from players earning thousands a week would go down well?

If Levy donated the ground for free the testimonial match alone could raise nearly half a million, what with the attendance, bucket collections and programme and other advertising.

I feel a player that doesn't always put himself first, is just the type of player we need at Hull City. All speculation on my part, of course.

I think this testimonial situation was part of the problem, but I would expect the Pochettino wanted time to assess his squad, as well as getting in another centre back to cover for Dawson leaving.
