Two rumours in one day. Big apologies if they turn out to be untrue but apparently we are due to play Celtic on Aug 3rd. Hope so because Betis is not really a big draw. Talking about friendlies, are they included in people's season ticket deal?
I think Real Betis is an excellent team for us to play. Like us they have just been promoted, their manager will be busy on the transfer market over the summer and their players will be keen to show El Gaffer what they can do. The manager will be watching his players, changing tactics and positions and seeing how well they all work together. For an established team like Celtic it will just be a pre-season warm up. I think that BR will learn a lot more from the Betis game.
To be honest guys, i dont want celtic here and also that is a week and a half into their season starting 26/7/11. Dont think i could stand looking at that t**t lennon for 90 mins. I agree think Betis is the much better game. Much better to see where we are with our style against a spanish side.
I'd love to play Celtic, much better than the usual standard of pre-season friendlies we get anyway. And they'd probably bring a good few fans so it'd be a decent atmosphere for a pre-season game. I like the fact we play against the local Welsh Premier League teams but think some of the games against lower league Dutch sides and the like are boring.
Yes lets play Celtic and have our players run rings round Joe Ledley or kick the crap out of him,Either will do.
I can't see why Celtic would want to play us in a friendly after their season has already started. It seems a bit pointless.
Not one to brag BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also you heard the £25 away ticket here first?
I got that one wrong - just appeared on BBC website... Swansea City's pre-season fixtures: July 16 (kick-off 12noon) Neath (A) July 16 (kick-off 3pm) Port Talbot (A) August 3 (kick-off 7pm) Celtic (H) August 6 (kick-off 3pm) Real Betis (H) See http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14030543.stm.
£25 for Celtic. I think the bluetits are only charging £15. C'mon Swans board, lets not fleece the fans for EVERY penny
They will use every single player they have, including the office staff, so not much of a fitness test. I think last year they changed the whole team at half-time. These matches (PT & Neath) seem more like mixed training sessions than a matches.
Just get the feeing we could have done a bit better than this as a Premier League side. Neath, Port Talbot and celtic third team hardly inspiring or a good test for the upcomming season. However the Real Betis game i like.
