    Thanks, so do I <ok>

We had a major rebuild to do, and it's going to plan. Infact we're a year ahead of schedule.

So last year coming second was a success Skylarker, yet according to the quote at the bottom of your comments

Mind you I've been here during the bad times too - one year we came second." - Bob Paisley

    Contradiction in terms maybe?

Yes as that is where I expect you to finish, with the current squad.

It's obvious we're not the team we were when Paisley was in charge, by the way that's an old quote (as you obviously know). You make out like it was from the 2012/13 season <laugh>

I'm thinking similar quotes from SAF will be used in the future as yor club crumbles like ours did <ok>

Geniune Question - Would you see Utd finishing 2nd as a massive success this season, considering last season's horror show?

Considering our current position and last season, yes. Considering we're used to winning the league, no.

As you lot haven't won a league title since 1990 then I can see why, to you, second seems really good.

Skylarker, you used the quote, not me. It clearly states that coming second is deemed failure. All I was doing was asking how that is failure, yet coming second last year rates as high as the parting of the Red Sea.

I know you could use the evidence of a book praising second place, but it still doesnt make any common sense. Is coming second considered a success, or a failure. A Simple one word answer would be acceptable

It was a success in terms of finishing 5 places higher than the season before and also in gaining a place in the CL after not being in it for a few seasons, nothing more nothing less.

Skylarker, finishing second or below is a failure. So last year was a disaster. So as far as the premier league is concerned, we have had 13 successful years, with 7 failures. Like most United fans, we do realise we can't win it every year, and I doubt if LVG will manage it this year, so its another failure. Despite that with his experience, he should manage it within 2 years.

Finishing second is not winning, your just first out of all the other runner ups

So Utd finishing 2nd this season would be seen as a failure?

And you lot call us deluded <yikes>

If LVG finishes second with this squad, he deserves a life time contract with the club

He needs to be another ferguson to do that. He will whip many of the players into shape and get rid of the deadwood. If he gets the players needed he may do that.

Small club mentality when you consider failure an option.

    United dont. Liverpool do.

When united finished second in 1988 or 1992, decades after our last title did we release a book?
