I don't see it. Bale never led the PL in scoring.

Chadli and Capoue probably got the rawest deals of the seven buys last year. They somehow managed to look reasonably good yet didn't get much playing time.

The main thing that happened today was that we played the attractive football I hoped to see, and that I feel Pochettino was hired to provide. I was especially pleased at our much faster buildup. I guess the defenders could have gotten the ball forward faster (I didn't note it, tbh), but our attackers did an excellent job of getting themselves and the ball in good places before the defenders had a chance to settle.

It was reasonable to see QPR as a banana skin given the Spurs people they have. On the other hand, the home opener against the playoff winner is the most winnable game of the 38. When they're trying to bring in a badly conceived and executed setup, Spurs fans were always likely to go home happy.

Nevertheless, Spurs were the team I wanted to see today. I'm very pleased about that. Nobody expected Spurs to be alone in first in the PL, and I plan on enjoying all 24 or 144 hours of it.

Cheers Swords. Like I said to one of your lads a couple of days ago on here - with our games aside, I hope you guys have a good season. Have nothing but huge respect for Harry after what he done for us and so wherever he manages I'd love to see him do well. <ok>

I've said a few times about the 3-5-2 formation, mainly aimed at Man Utd though, it just will not work in the Premier League in my opinion. I've said over the past few days that I'd love to face Utd right now as I think we'd slaughter them. The formation plays right into the hands of Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli, Lennon and Townsend for them to exploit the space between the three CB's (who are usually predominantly slow) and the midfield/ wing backs. QPR's decision to play it today somewhat backs up my claims of how punishing we can be when given that much space, don't get me wrong we were superb anyway in my opinion but I reckon had Harry and Rangers gone with a more conservative style of 4-4-2/ 4-5-1, I reckon it would've been a tougher and closer game.

Not sure on that mate! Although I remember Matt Taylor playing as an attacking left back for Portsmouth, he may have used it in the odd game but I'm sure he played four at the back. Anyway I don't want to see QPR get relegated , Sunderland is already must win, so all the best <cheers>

Looking at his west ham team, he had Rio Ferdinand, Neil Ruddock and Ian Pearce, who where regulars, 31 games, 33 games and 27 games. I don't have much memory of that team but them stats point to west ham playing 3 centre backs so he could have used 3-5-2 often , and that season he took west ham to 5th, their best ever premier league finish.

    EDIT:

    Shaka Hislop
    Rio Ferdinand
    Ian Pearce
    Neil Ruddock
    Trevor Sinclair
    Steve Lomas (captain)
    Frank Lampard
    Marc Keller
    Eyal Berkovic
    John Hartson
    Ian Wright

    3-4-1-2

If thats the case then Redknapp doesn't need hoddle to help with the system as hes proved he can use the system in the premier league

What a great start, eh? We. Are. Top of the league :D

QPR were rubbish, to be honest, but I really thought we exacerbated it with our constant high tempo, winning the ball back quickly and keeping the pressure on them. Still a couple of lapses defensively and I thought we should've scored more but we can't be greedy, definitely got the performance I said I wanted on page one.

Liverpool up next, should be interesting if we can play like that again as Liverpool play with a lot of pace too(but not with as much style <cool> ).

Played in the Europa League and will likely do again this week. It's early days for him but Rose had a great game today so he'll probably have to wait a bit longer for his chance in the league. Shaw for £30mill?! We've got the best 2 left backs in the league for £11mill <whistle>

Sorry SOS but with Chadli (the new Bale, yes RAWB) even with Redknapp playing a 4-4-2, 4-5-1 we would have ran out easy winners. Don't underestimate the ability of the chadmeister

Maybe so mate but that's what he says. He's said it a few times now. He said it again after today's game:

Obviously we're not giving Redknapp enough credit tactic wise as looking at his west ham team it appears he played 3-4-1-2 and lead them to 5th. Redknapp does often get overlooked for his tactical ability so while 3-5-2 isn't working now, back then it worked, yet most teams played 4-4-2 in the 90's. Nowadays the systems are more flexible so its harder to play 3 at the back.

Chadli is certainly no Gareth Bale. But, Pochettino certainly seems to getting more out of him than our previous two managers. Let's hope it continues.

He played against Limassol on Thursday mate, hard to say how he done as the buffering on the stream we all had was ****, kept cutting out every twenty seconds! Lol.

We're delighted to have him though, I think he has a great future. I'm not Rose's biggest fan and surprised he got the initial nod over Davies but admittedly he's been really impressive in the first two league games so Ben may need to bide his time before displacing him (which I believe he will eventually do) but he seems a level headed lad and knows that with every club you have to fight for your place in the side. He done that with Taylor for you guys and he'll do that with Rose here.

Great to see Siggy doing well for you, a goal and assist so far I believe? Delighted for him <ok>

Didn't see it as I assumed it was a 7.45 kick off and turned out to be much earlier.

One of the best performances we have seen from a left back since the premier league era started and ignore those who say it was only because QPR didn't press, defend and their system allowed full back and winger to have the freedom of WHL, as they are talking rubbish.

It made a nice change leaving the ground feeling that we had been entertained for the 1st time in a couple of years.
    Loads of positives to take from the game;
Lamella showing what he can do and also his desire for the team by closing down and chasing the ball.
Dier again looked outstanding. So far he has looked a bargain buy.
Capoue was immense in the centre, for many he was MOTM.
Verts played like he wanted yo be on the pitch and no sulking.
Bentaleb alongside Capoue looked assured and was always available for his teammates.
Chadli, goals aside, looked dangerous and he gave Rose some protection on the left flank.
Rose had his best game in a spurs shirt, looked like a premier league left back!

There were a couple of dodgy areas that need to be addressed though.
Kaboul looked cumbersome at times and the way we switched off in the last 10 minutes allowing QPR at least 3 clear chances to score.

All in all, a cracking day at the Lane which made the post match drinks all the more enjoyable!
