Stoke equalised with seven minutes to go when Ryan Shawcrossâ scruffy effort crept over the line, but Bruce was unhappy that the visitors were awarded a throw-in, rather than Hull, in the lead-up to the goal. âYouâve got to be pleased with a point,â Bruce told Sky Sports. âWhen you go down to 10 men after 14 minutes, then of course you would take a point. âTo take the lead and defend the way we did, we were magnificent and the difficulty I have is the disappointment of the goal. âIf they score a legitimate goal, they break you down, play a one-two or Bojan does a bit of magic, then you accept it, but the players have come in with disappointment etched on their face. Steve Bruce was left disappointed with the officials after draw with Stoke. âItâs a throw-in that is blatantly ours. Iâm 30, 40 yards away, standing next to the linesman. Heâs got the technology, the fourth official is next to me and looking straight at it. Their player is running away from it and knew it wasnât their throw-in. âYouâve got three officials and, in my opinion, you have got to get decisions like that right. It wasnât even if it was just a miniscule touch, it changed the whole direction of the ball.â Bruce had no complaints about Chesterâs red card, adding: âHeâs absolutely got it right, thereâs no question, with the law the way it is at the moment. âYou accept decisions like that, but weâve had two awful ones now. I must have been fined four times last year. I phoned up Mike Riley more times than I phoned my missus. âI think, unfortunately, I keep saying the same thing. We feel aggrieved. Itâs hard enough to play with 10 men against Stoke for 80 minutes. I have just got back from the game (west stand tiger). I had seen what happened and amazed the linesman didn't call it. BUT.. Hull should have defended that.
I agree.. blame the ref all you want SB, but we really should have had a man near the post to defend the goal line. There was a gap on the goal line, SB could have fit his fat head through. Look on the bright side, we're higher than Lesster and Man U.
Had they been given a dodgy free kick outside the penalty area then yes Bruce would be in his rights to complain. But come-on, a throw-in from that far out when we had most of our players behind the ball anyway?
From the 14th minute to the 81st we played with 10 men. we were tiring. If we'd have gotten the throw in we'd have had a breather. We didn't, which kept the pressure on and we made mistakes in dealing with the ball into the box. Unfortunately they scored. Sometimes you don't get the rub of the green, but what a performance. We were simply magnificent. No other word for it.
What got me about the throw in is how in gods name can a ref give a throw in to them when all of there players are moving away to defend our throw in....Surely simple common sense should have told him it was our throw in...He wasn't watching the play was he......Come on Webb drop this joker ref to the Confereence...It is not the first time...And lose some weight. fat ****.
We were knackered from being down to 10 for most of the game that throw in would have given us a break. Instead of which we were all a little pissed off at the fact the ref clearly got it wrong and our concentration dropped.
the City players told him he'd got it wrong, but instead of putting his hand up and saying he had made a mistake and reversed it he allowed it to go on....He could have saved face by penalising the lunge by Shawcross on McGregor but chose to ignore that...He is not good enough for this level....Will Riley/ Webb do **** all? I doubt it.. I think some of the refs don't want us in the premier league...
A stinker of a penalty decision against us last week and this obvious 'throw-in-that-never-was-today', it was like 1971 all over again. 'Just' a throw-in that day cost us a FA Cup Semi Final place. The officials today added nothing to the occasion. They were 3rd division. Great performance by City and one of the best atmospheres at the KC for a long, long time.
Was deffo our throw in, but. Not seen it back yet and I'm pissed but Meyler was asleep. I was banging on about Meyler coming on from the sending off but when he did he was ****. So lethargic, didnt close down at all.
We were screaming that it was our throw in from the east stand it was that obvious , how can all the officials miss that ?? Yes we should have defended it better but the match officials need to get obvious decisions correct
I don't think it was Meyler's fault. Rosenior was so busy moaning about the decision he disappeared into the box and left Meyler to mark two on the wing. He realised he was out of position but it was too late. They played a quick one two from the throw and got the cross in before Rosenior could get close enough to close the second one down. **** decision but I'm sure it was Rosey's fault that the cross came in. Also not sure about the red card. I know there was no one behind Chester but there was a defender either side who were sprinting in full flow whereas Whelan (think it was him?) had just planted his front foot to knock the ball past Chester, he was completely stationary by the time he went down. You can't sprint forward on goal when your weight is on one outstretched foot, and he isn't exactly quick anyway. I don't think he'd have got a shot off. But even if it was, what pisses me off is there's no way that decision would go against Stoke at the Britannia. Nor Everton, Palace, West Ham, QPR if they're at home. We always get a penalty or red card go against us when playing these same few teams, it does my head in. I feel like Bruce, fed up of saying the same thing every time!
Aye that could be right. Even after that Meyler was laboured though. Looked a definite sending off to me though.
It still resulted in a cross into the box and it wasn't that far out (I was sat right in front of it)?! We where f**ed from running for 80 minutes with 10 men and weren't in a rush to take OUR throw in (for obvious reasons), therefore not one of our players grabbed the ball which in hindsight they probably should have. That would have given us time to set up properly and tell the fat f** that he'd screwed up.
I would expect referees to get such an obvious call right in the top flight league. That was Sunday League refereeing regardless of what happened afterwards.
This ^ Yes we should have defended better after the ****tiest of decisions went against us, however we didn't, and consequently that ****ty decision is the root cause for us losing two valuable Premier League points, and no matter where we finish in the league this season that loss of two points is going to cost our club an awful lot of money. I don't know the precise amount, and at this time in a morning I can't be arsed to check, but I'm pretty certain that each place/position in the PL at the end of the season is worth in excess of £1M, and obviously an horrendous amount more should that loss add up to us being relegated! How about we all take some action on this, otherwise things are NEVER going to change? How about we decide who we are going to complain to, Webb, Riley, etc, and do it! Let's email the fookers in an attempt to get something positive out of this. Because, let's face it, our manager can't do anything otherwise he gets fined, laughably probably for bringing the game into disrepute, not that the idiotic officials haven't already done that today, and what happens to them if we sit idly by? Nothing! So who's up for sending an email? Obadiah I appoint you as the focal point for this campaign as I know that you have the leadership skills, so get it sorted!
