I think that if they take that approach and can keep Rvp fit then they'll get top 4. Keeping Rvp fit is a task in itself though.

Some rags now saying RM want £75m from Utd for Di Maria, surely they are not desperate enough to pay that.

Unless its just a ruse to get £50m plus the maestro that is Wellbeck<laugh>

In comparison with yours its pretty damn good to be fair.

It will only get better if they are given the chance and with rio and vidic gone that should be the case.

It's the truth and you know it. Your defence is simply dire. <ok>

That team is defensively frail in midfield and lacks leadership at the back. united need a dominant CB so desperately that its embarrasing that they are trying to sign Di Maria instead.

If United want to spend big they should be going for players like Hummels or at least Dante for defense and some one like De Rossi or Khedeira in midfield.

United signing Di Maria when they already have a strong attack is like us signing Oscar when we already have Coutinho and Lallana.

    Im really embarrassed.

Anyway if you had seen di maria last year you would see he played in midfield. He was also praised for his ability to win the ball back and launch an attack. Something that herrera was brilliant at too.

Reading about lvg ajax side and his playing style since it seems he likes his teams to work hard and press the ball at all times. Di maria allows for this and is a world class player to boot.

So as embarrassing as it is buying one of best players in the world, he fits the profile of a lvg type player.

The thing is, Rooney, Van Persie, Mata and Hernandez are all real quality players who score, create, pass, defend, link up etc very well.

Your defense was a patch work mess last week. You can blame injuries but the players out injured will make little difference when they return. Rojo is good but he is not the top defender and leader that you need.

Why strengthen your attack when your defense is so awful? Its like having three walls of a square house built and trying to finish it by making on of the existing walls taller.

It's very different playing CM for Madrid compared to playing it in the Prem. For Madrid he didn't really have much defensive responsibility, one because of the players he played with and also because in 90% of the games they had near enough all the ball.

It's similar to how Mascherano can play CB for Barca but wouldn't do it for any other club. They are threatened so rarely in defence that it's just not that important (or so Barca seem to think)

Play Di Maria in CM if you wish but he won't be affective and won't give you any defensive discipline.

Oscar and ramires who are tiny seem to cope ok.

I think thinks midfield means primarily a defensive role. It doesnt.

He also plays cm for argentina quite often. His defensive work is underrated due to how good he is in attack.

lol at the bitterness being shown here, trying to make out that Di Maria won't be a great signing for United is ****ing ridiculous, he's a brilliant player and would improve any side in the division. Teds <laugh>

On Di Maria. I think he's a very good player, very good as a winger (wouldn't trust him as a CM) But not World Class, I reserve that for players like Suarez, Messi, Ronaldo etc.
For me Di Maria gives the ball away too much, loses the ball too much and his passing is fairly poor, but he is quick, tricky and unpredictable.

£50-60m is alot of money for him, considering he's a very similar player to Sanchez who Arsenal got for a much better price. Not sure he's really what Man U need, everybody knows where they are weak and its not on the Wings or in the Forward line. The Defence is absolute mess, even with Rojo who I think is a decent player, the Midfield is so lightweight and extremely poor and these are the areas that Man U should have been looking to improve.

He'll be a good player and is an improvement on Valencia, Young, Jizzypants etc, but don't think he'll make the difference to Man U where they really need it.

is anyone saying it wont improve the team? i can see some saying wont improve the areas they need to work on which is mainly defensive, but it will obviously improve their attack, which is why its a bit like us last season in great going forward but ****e at the back, not an area they needed to improve on is all i can see said.

good to see you wade in with your neutral opinion as well <whistle>

Its not that he's not great, its that he plays in a role they are already strong in and they have a poor defense.

I will say it again. You will get it soon enough

PACE. This is the main attribute he will bring.

How many of you said how slow united were last season. How often did we look so much better when januzaj came in and ran at players?

Its easy to talk about our defence but is it not better to defend from the front? Does di maria not allow for that?

Its easy to see which of you are annoyed by this. Mid table united signing a player whos rejected real madrids contract offer to join united.

It doesnt fit the scouse view of united. We cant attract the best players.

Well we can. And we have. You wouldnt be able to though.
