He was. He had an injured toe or something, as well.
The problem wasn't that he went off, it's that someone similar didn't come on as a replacement. They lost their focal point and couldn't clear their lines.
With Everton's presence in Europe they're going to need another striker, I think. Even if they get Kone back to full fitness, they still seem a little short.

this could sum Everton up as a team .

You cant fault their effort , its always top notch , and they play some great , fast attacking football .

But they just havent got that depth of quality .

Everton dominated for 83 minutes and scored only one genuine goal against an Arsenal team not playing well. That says two things. One, Everton lack firing power up front and therefore I think will struggle away from home and two, Arsenal will get better. If they scored two and didn't play well then what will happen when they do start to play well. We have to watch them like hawks.

Arsenal fans would never do such a thing, obviously:

    1-0 to the Cypriot side.

    14 minutes later and it's 1-2.

Watching motd...villa may have a real problem with their crowds ...massive amounts of empty seats all round the ground,
In the palace match there were a lot of empty seats behind one goal...surprised me. Was very noticable...and surely that must be about ticket prices particularly in the palace match.

You only saw the lowlights of the game ( there were no highlights!) I somehow managed to endure watching most of it! If you had seen it, you'd know why they have so many empty seats.

To me Palace always have been a Championship side and now just one of the majority mediocre clubs of the Premiership. Apart from Chelsea v Leicester and Everton V Arsenal which other match was interesting remotely, none of them. I can't even remember who Newcastle played for their 0-0. Chelsea could have gone 0-1 down and scored a normal deflection and went behind against Burnley so are living edgily and this against newly promoted teams. Arsenal went behind at home to Palace and were behind at Everton who I think we might be overrating a bit. We aren't playing too convincingly but to beat West Ham at their ground who went on to win away well has to mean our defence is strong so we are quite effective all round.

A better idea of form will come after Pool, City and Utd play and of course us who I hope for at least a two goal win with none conceded.

I actually drifted off for short periods during the last quarter of that game, which is a new experience for me for a lunchtime kick-off.
Villa didn't manage a single shot on target and they were at home. That's appalling.
Newcastle seem to have signed some decent players in the summer and you can see what Pardew's trying to do, but they need time to adjust.
If either side deserved the win, which is highly debatable, then it was the Geordies.

You know it's a poor game when Alan Hutton gets named Man of the Match.
Really feel like starting a "How's Hutton Doing?" thread on the Villa board for old time's sake! <laugh>

to sustain that intensity into the business end of the PL campaign.

Their season already has an extra 6 guaranteed UEFA games (probably 8 as they should
get into the KO stages) .

What is the view on Chelsky ??
Fibreglas seems to have slotted back into PL mode immediately, and Costa seems
quite well-suited to scoring in PL games. I think they will push Citeh much harder this season.

If their defence doesn't let them down, they'll probably win it...IMO .

The only issue with Chelsea is they have no centre back (back-up) options, Terry and Cahill are their only natural options. Ivanovic can slot into centre back as they have cover at full back but hes currently their best full back. Other then that they for me are the favourites and will win the title if they keep Terry fit.

Oh look, my point being proven again! Mercifully in a way that means I don't have to quote Not PC enough's gibberish.

Funny how Gooners never dare show their faces on our board when they're losing, isn't it?

They've also got Kurt Zouma, who's only 19, but he's pretty highly rated. Unproven in the Premier League, admittedly.

Yeah just never played a single game and Mourinho doesn't have a good track record with young players so chances are he will piss off Jose and be sent away!

True. Wouldn't surprise me to see someone more experienced brought in as cover/competition.

  20. Hi, chaps! Just back in front of the computer, so catching up on things.

Real happy with the Everton v Goons result. Yes, it would have been great had they lost, but nonetheless, that is a match that Whinger would have wanted to have won, and he will see that as 2 points lost (despite all that bollocks about it being a "great fight-back").

What it definitely shows is that Goons have absolutely no chance of competing for the title this season, so that should stop all the nonsense in the media. I still think they'll get 4th, but it will be a massive struggle for them, and I can see the Gooner "faithful" turning on Whinger like a pack of hyenas (again).

Sanchez, as predicted by many of us, is looking like a complete flop. It would be nice to see LOLdado improving this season and scoring more goals. That would really upset Chuckles.
