I was wondering who has the best success rate against the mags? I would say the player has to have played in at least 6 derbies as loads may have just played in one or two. Anybody out there have any idea?
I've no idea if that's rught, Mac. But Geordie Holley was one of only two lasting legends (along with Charlie Buchan) from the 1913 side that came so close to winning the double. On the Sunday before the 1992 Cup Final, a man wrote in the Sunday Times that he still got drinks bought for him in Sunderland on account of being Geordie Holley's grandson. Amazing, considering George died in 1942. A true legend.
Dunno mate but I'll give you another derby stat ...... Shola isn't a Mackem slayer at all. This is what he says, 'I don't know why I always score, but long may it continue': Shola Ameobi In reality he's managed to 'slay' us once in the last half a dozen years ffs and that was the 3rd goal when we'd already lost the game ....... 2013/14 Lost home & away to Sunderland - failed to score 2012/13 Lost at home, drew away - failed to score 2011/12 Won away, drew at home - scored 1 goal in the draw, failed to score in the other match 2010/11 Won at home, drew away - scored 2 goals in the win, failed to score in the other match 2009/10 Championship, failed to score 2008/09 Lost away, Drew at home -scored in both
AJ must have a good record based on that last 2 seasons, including scoring 1, and 1 assist. Won 3, drawn 1.
