Besiktas are apparently facing competition for Bryan Ruiz from Werder Bremen. Wonder if the Besiktas result against the Arsenal tonight will encourage them to up the ante? " Werder Bremen are reportedly preparing a £4m move for Fulham attacker Bryan Ruiz. According to Bild, Bremen will make an official offer for the experienced attacker this week."
According to Novinite and SkyItalia we are on the brink of signing Nikolay Mihaylov, a 6' 4" Bulgarian keeper who plays for Verona. Previously, Jol tried to sign him from Twente as back up to Stekelenburg. It's not clear from the reports whether it's a loan or permananent deal.
We're being linked to Wigan's James McArthur. Now that would be a good move. Source: http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/fulham-join-burnley-in-race-to-sign-26-year-old-midfielder/
The Times are running a story on why we haven't been able to off-load the 'big names' - please log in to view this image There's got to be a possibility that Khan isn't prepared to allow any more signings until some or all of these deals happen. Whether, given our current crisis, he's prepared to take reduced offers remains to be seen. The significance of him being in London just now has to have meaning, hasn't it?
Now it’s apparently Napoli who are showing an interest in Kostas Mitroglou. However loads of caveats; it’s dependent on what happens with their own player Duvan Zapata ,and the asking price. Looks like we're signing 38 year old goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly; the ex-Palace keeper who wears pyjamas pants in goal.
please log in to view this image ”Fulham have been given permission to speak to 1860 Munich’s former Crystal Palace goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly about a move to Craven Cottage. The 38-year-old Hungary international previously spent five years in England with Palace and then Burnley – a period that also included loan spells at West Ham and Aston Villa. According to 1860 sporting director Gehard Poschner, Kiraly wants to move back to England and will undergo a medical at Fulham. He said: “It is absolutely understandable that Gabor accepts this unique challenge. Out of respect for him we have complied with his request. We thank him very much and wish him every success at Fulham.” Source: http://www.westlondonsport.com/fulham/fulham-in-talks-to-sign-former-crystal-palace-goalkeeper So Felix let's Stockdale, Stekelenburg and even Etheridge go and now ..... signs a 38yr old who has been round the block... Desparate times.
Brad Friedel and Mark Schwartzer were brilliant at 40 so he's almost a spring chicken at 38. For a keeper that's okay - as long as we don't give him more than a years contract.
I see Ipswich are in talks to sign Jack Collison on a free transfer. I think he'd be a very good signing not only for them but he'd be great for us. Plays in the position that we're short on, free, 26 and experienced in this league. Seems a no-brainer to me.
Good call FI. Doubt if Felix has the same nous but you ever know: "With six days remaining in the summer transfer window, the Manager also confirmed the Club may be expecting more arrivals before the deadline passes. Magath said: “We will have a little bit of movement in the next days. I hope to have something tomorrow or the day after.” (from Club post on official site)
What do you think the wages difference is between keeping those three and employing this guy for 1 year?
I see today we're being linked with even more defenders!! Iranian Ehsan Hajsafi, who is said to be a defender but it looks like he can play in defence (left back) or midfield. He played in all three of Iran's world cup matches and played in midfield, in one game he was even played as an attacking midfielder so seems like he's a bit of a jack of all trades. Apparently the deal for him is "very close". Also being linked with defender Syan Ben Youssef who plays in Romania for Astra Giurgiu. Before he went to Romania in 2012 he spent half a season at Leyton Orient so has experience of the English game. My first thought is, more defenders?!?!?! Soon we'll be able to field a whole starting 11 just with defenders. Although I assume Felix with try his hardest to get Amorebieta out the door before the end of the week. Hopefully Burn has gave Felix something to think about and he can get more of a look in.
My point was more about the principle of letting all three go and waiting 4 games into the season before admitting that we needed more experience in goal.
Everything about Magath is a mystery to me, as I have said before the results of the next 3 games will decide his fate
I know it may sound far fetched but an enquiry about PC of Chelsea on a season long loan. Remember when we really were ambitious some 10 yrs ago we signed one of the worlds most expensive goalkeepers , he could bring confidence to the defence and our young keepers would defiantly learn something. Khan you have got to have a MO financial mind-set if you want to see success at the Cottage.
The club's merchandise director has confirmed on Twitter that Kiraly will take the no.1 jersey, before the club have even announced the signing. Why does it take us so long to announce signings?
Kiraly not really an inspired signing is it. More no how required. Magath goes foreign and cheap - McCormack excluded.
It may not be glamorous or high profile, but it might be just what we need. It will be interesting to see whether he's been signed to play or to be a steadying influence about the place on Bettinelli and Jorenon. I suspect that the young 'uns will still play most (or all) of the games with Kiraly's value coming behind the scenes. From what I remember of his Palace days, I always rated him highly.
