Quite agree, but unfortunately for us Man Ure have stated they are not going to sell to a rival

I think they may be stalling until they find a potential replacement.

As much as I'd like Rhodes here, I'd rather us leave this now and look at someone else.

Couldn't agree more. We need to move fast on other targets.

All of this whilst, in the same window, Crystal Palace signed Fraizer Campbell for £900k. It's all case of timing I guess but if we'd sold Long prior to Campbell singing for Palace then maybe he'd have ended up here, and for a lot less than £12m.

Burnsy just been on RH, he said the deal, according to Brucey at the training ground this morning, is STILL on, but that it may involve a fee plus TWO players!

If Rhodes ends up here I hope that it has all been worth it.

What type of journalist are you training to be? Would you leave this because of the cost or do you think the deal is dead?

Rhodes is not worth £12million plus Alex Bruce/Paul McShane and George Boyd/Stephen Quinn.

Look abroad as a stop-gap I'd say. Much better value for players just as good.

I'm inclined to agree that this deal is starting to look a little bit lop sided. £12m plus two of our players, if that's what the final deal was, would equate to a similar figure to the one that Liverpool have paid for Balotelli. Is Rhodes really that good? If he eventually signs we can but hope!

£12M plus two of our players is outrageous. Tell 'em to **** off, Steve.

No they said they where not going to sell to a top six rival, which puts Chelsea,Arsenal,Liverpool, Everton and Spurs out of the running, but not us.

Well that would be it for me. £12m and two players is way too much. I'd pull out of this one. Then i'd be interested to see if Blackburn would come crawling back, admitting they'd made a mistake, and should have accepted our last offer.

Maybe we should have bought Lewis Grabban-four in four so far for Norwich

Blackburn don't really need the money and have a playoff shot with Rhodes. Not surprised they don't want to sell.

Why not try and get Welbeck on loan and buy Rhodes? Jelavic has the pace of the snail and if the choice was to have Jelavic or Rhodes alongside Welbeck it wouldn't be Jelavic.

Where have I restricted your opinion, I simply asked you two questions. I was under the impression you were training to be a sports journo, if so do they touch on contract negotiations?

Probably a lower sum with notional values for player(s) included. The whole package will have a notional package of circa £12m. Both clubs are establishing their best positions through staged negotiations and that is normal in all negotiations , football or otherwise.
