Will be interesting to see if Rhodes is in their squad today. He's on 99 appearances for them though, so him playing may not mean much.
Info on twitter from BRFC fans and sources stating that they've turned down 2 bids and are determined to keep him.
Rhodes deal off.. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/11429399._/? Would be very difficult for them to backtrack from that statement even if went back with an improved offer.
Rhodes isn't coming. Maybe Shane Long might be available? Failing that, Kevin Doyle is all that's left.
That's just a rehash of the story from earlier this week. They've apparently accepted our higher offer.
If Rhodes really wants to come, sounds like we might need him to start doing everything thats wrong with the modern game, disrespect his contract and hand in a transfer request and throw a tantrum...... i hope he does.
Unusual that they've named us. Normally such a statement would normally read 'we've received 2 bids that we've rejected' but not name the club in question. Also very interesting that the term used is 'not our intention to sell' rather than 'we categorically will not sell'. That leaves it very much open to future bids when they can turn round and say 'it wasn't our intention, it was just too good an offer'. This definitely isn't done yet.
And are we paying 15M£ for a player unproven in the PL? SB there's plenty of fish in the sea and there's sea all over the world...
Look at what happened with the MaGuire deal. It's all smoke and mirrors to try and get the best deal for the club.
The fact they're issuing the statement in the first place and the wording in it suggests that no deal is going to take place. As mentioned before, sounds like it will only happen if he puts in a transfer request.
Is Rhodes all that anyway? Maybe we can get Wellbeck on a loan and supplement him with that Victor chap (unless he's already signed for Porto?)
