Why do the mackems think Marveaux is slow? From everything I've seen he has quite a bit of pace.

Anyway, the signings are okay, but it depends on who else will be brought in. If that was it, I'd personally be disappointed. Larsson and Gardner are decent players though. Certainly not bad buys (especially as Larsson is free). I wouldn't want either of them in our first team though as we've always had a very strong midfield with the likes of Barton, Ben Arfa, Tiote and now Cabaye and so on.

As for Wickham, who knows? IF Sunderland do sign him, he'll either be one of the best buys in recent times, or he'll be one of Sunderland's biggest ever flops. I really have no idea how it will go. Kid has potential though, no doubt about it.

If I was gonna take any players from the mackems it would be some from defence, some from attack and probably Sessegnon. We were a hairs width away from being higher up the table than Sunderland (by giving away a ****ing 3-0 lead), so just because they finished higher, it doesn't mean that they have many first starting 11 players which would improve our own first team.

They don't have much in the way of goalscorers as Wickham isn't even prolific at Championship level, even though he only had one full season.

Guess we will find out second game of the season. 2 might have walked in by the start of the season if Ben Arfa and Ba's legs are hanging off and you have probs seen Cabaye play as many times as me which is never.

I don't think Marveaux is slow, he is supposed to be **** off a stick isn't he. His crossing is supposed to be very poor though and then there are the injuries, you never know how a player is going to come back.

    "Leg's hanging off"? <laugh>

And I've watched Cabaye a few times, as has the French national coach, who liked him so much he picked him in one of the best international teams in the world <ok>

Thats pushing it a little don't you think mate, France were a great team but the last world cup showed them up. Don't get me wrong, I think he could be a quality signing but you all seem to think he is going to walk into the Prem and tear it up. It is just possible he could take 6 months to make the grade or god forbid do a Veron or Crespo and never adapt.

Nah I dont think he'll tear it up, but France are still a force and he still has to be a quality player to get into the setup. Watched him a couple of times as well though, didnt want to form an opinion on hype.

I love that Cabaye bloke. How many EPL appearances and goals did he get last season? Unproven atm and Gardner and Larsson are both proven. Jonas - do me a favour. Your own fans wanted rid most of last season. He's a diving cheating no end product winger. Barton I'll give you bit he wants out as does Jonas so what do you do then?

What are you on about? Larsson and Gardner took Birmingham to the Championship, Cabaye took Lille to the Champions League, I know who I'd be excited about.

And Jonas (who I cant recall wanting rid of) and Barton both expressly want to stay. Maybe when you learn to read you might notice things like that.

Big fan of Jonas, he always gives 100%. He's even learned how to wave since he came here.

Sunderland have signed Wickham, a bit pissed off about that cos I wanted us to sign him, he looks like he could be good and he is English plus on FM he is meant to be the next Shearer, although bit of an expensive gamble at £8/12m.

Couldn't care really, he could easily completely flop, an expensive flop.

I have not really been that impressed by him, not really scored many at all in the Championship.

    So many **** points
Cabayes unproven true but does that mean crap? no
Gardner and Larsson are both proven in the premier league. But so is Titus Bramble
I don't care who wanted Jonas out but I think he's quality (as does Messi BTW)
And finally Barton has stated how many times that he wants to leave Newcastle? Oh yeh that'll be none and he has infact said he wants to stay every time he's been asked

    What the **** is 'EPL'?

Since when did anyone start calling it that like?

'Proven'. So does that mean that to be 'proven' in the 'EPL' you simply have to play a few games in it and score a goal or two?

But Cabaye et al have no chance of flopping? I sense a bit of double standards here, if we sign a risky player, they could always flop, if you guys do, ignore any potential negatives. Ahhh the irrational partisanship of being a football fan!

I haven't seen enough to comment on Marveaux, but looking at his recent assists and goal scoring stats, I reckon he will do well for you lot, same with Cabbie.

But Im not sure why you all think Larsson is slow? If youve seen his goal against Sheff Wednesday a few seasons ago you can see he has pace to burn, and hes still 26 so wont have lost that much. All Ive seen slow of him are his Fifa stats! (Yes, I have tweaked my team accordingly)

    Here is said goal:
