but that's a completely inane argument, he's been helped countless times, even got rich folk to pay for an american rehab.. i don't agree with it, but how much help can you offer someone? like best, somepeople can't be helped and gazza is one of them, he'll meet his end soon and i wonder how much sympathy would be afforded to the average alcoholic, they'd be scolded at and heckled as being a waste of space.. i'm sorry but i dont really feel any sympathy for him
It is a common illness that many suffer from or deal with the ramifications of; he has had really quality support and treatment, it's his attitude that lacks substance.
I disagree. Many survive cancer others it kills. Each patient deals with their illness (whatever the illness) differently as there are differing degrees of illness & differing personalities dealing with it.
As someone who seen the effects of mental illness I have ever sympathy for Gaza. Does he drink because he's depressed or does he get depressed and drink? Whatever way round it is, it's a vicious circle.
Some of the comments on this thread regarding depression and alcoholism are ****ing pig-ignorant. I wonder what their view would be if they suffered from these mental diseases. Telling an alcoholic or a depressed person to stop drinking or to stop being depressed is like telling a gay person to stop being gay. Have a ****ing word with yourselves.
So you are in the know. I don't think so, as you spin this out as some sad story. He had as good or bad an upbringing as the lads or lasses around him, but he had a talent and his character, as with us all, used that. Of course he was manipulated by some, but he had huge opportunity to push that away - time and time again he chose not to. He still does that now. It's his character, it's him, so he must accept responsibility for being him. To compare him to someone who is struck down with cancer is missing the choices element that many adopt. Most of his close friends are at the end of their patience with him, it's only when sanctimonious carp like this comes out that some offer him another straw. I would never do him harm, but enough is enough; he is a clinical case the same as any other. Confused by your edit.
I'd missed your HR line earlier, I was just emphasising your point that HR does not always talk sense. & that I dislike him.
Feel for the bloke. Don't think he has the capabilities within himself to deal with his major issues. As mentioned, I don't think he's been blessed with a lot of intellect. He's been taken advantage of by many a fame hungry **** in his time. He's a sorry individual who can't help himself, which is precisely why it's pointless adopting the superior, judgmental position on this. All the help in the world won't help him soon, it seems, but I don't think that means people should think it's fine to trash him and completely misunderstand his very complex and sad situation.
Someone asked if he was a waste of oxygen because he keeps relapsing. The implication that he should stop was clearly there. Would you say a gay person is a waste of oxygen for refusing to be straight? Would you say a cancer patient is a waste of oxygen because they refuse to get better?
this **** don't help that's for sure, he needs to be completely out the public eye.. completely.. http://www.a1sportingspeakers.com/football-speakers/paul-gascoigne/
Whooaa, cowboy!! Are you discussing a valid point or throwing out ****e to get an argument? Do you see someone who is gay as being ill? I don't, so that's a nonsense point and, frankly, gives a bit of a hint as to how you perceive the gay element of society. Cancer patients rarely have the luxury of choice. Do you have any other gems of wisdom to hand?
tbf he already made out he was a bit homphobic before.. but anyway.. how the **** can you compare gazza to a cancer patient?
Never met the bloke. Not in the know about anything. It was merely one potential cause among many for his illness. The point was that it doesn't make any difference what caused it, where he is now is where he is now. Of course he is ****ing responsible for his own actions and the consequences of them. It's too easy however to just call him a wastral ****. Life's more complicated than that.
