With all due respect Musty, your attitude is very much of someone living on the opposite side of the planet dealing in cold hard facts. Perhaps if you lived in Swansea you would FEEL the change that's taking place and be more enthusiastic about the manager and his team.

I think there is some wiggle room. Not sure the extent of that. For example, Martinez didn't have a full license when he moved to Wigan.

Monk IS the Manager now whether we like it or not and even those like myself who were against the appointment support him 100% - and said so even before the win v Man U. That tends to be the feeling of those sitting around the Liberty too. It's a shame there are some exceptions imo. If Monk screws up it'll be bad news for Swansea City and I can't imagine anyone wanting that.

As for his badges I heard that Monk was in the process of completing them. Not an ideal scenario but my guess is that experience through 4 divisions over 12 years gives an intelligent manager more nous than scrap of paper ever can.

This looks like the official document: http://www.premierleague.com/conten.../publications/other/uefa-licensing-manual.pdf

Not definitive in terms of extensions or exemptons but it appears that there is a history of clubs either shuning the rules or delaying their enforcement. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Pro_Licence

    Then there is this http://www.thefa.com/my-football/coach/coaching-courses/the-fa-uefa-pro-licence

It looks like you have to have the UEFA A coaching license before you take the UEFA Pro License, which is the highest level and "required" for all managers and head coaches.

Clearly some exemptions or deferrals are going to be in play here - I don't see how somebody can achieve these licenses and be involved full time with a club in the top job.

I had emergency surgery for a hernia 2 days before the start of the season and will miss the Burnley match as well. I'm now catching up on the posts. After the great result on Saturday I cannot believe the moaning minnies that are on this board. I was delighted with the result and really pleased for Gary Monk. I was a manager in my employment with staff of both genders under my control and agree with everything Gary Monk is putting in place re mobiles, visitors, etc. Whilst you need to be pleasant, even handed and encouraging to the staff there is only one boss. Invariably the clique leaders and moaners were the poorest workers. They had 2 choices, do what they were instructed or go. Does this sound a bit familiar with what's gone on this close season. His coaching, management certificates are irrelevant as good managers have it within them and not on scraps of paper.

It didn't sound like that on Saturday at Old Trafford with "Garry Monks Black & White Army" bellowed around the stadium.

No - I'm a supporter who actually goes to matches. As aswan said to musty "your attitude is very much of someone living on the opposite side of the planet dealing in cold hard facts. Perhaps if you lived in Swansea you would FEEL the change that's taking place and be more enthusiastic about the manager and his team."

They are relevant. They are a regulatory requirement.

    Strongly agree with that statement.

Just wanted to point out that the Monk clique apparently existed ... and just so that we are all clear ... your assessment of their machinations against Sousa and Laudrup .... and maybe even Rogers .... is what?

Listen, all Im saying is Monk should never bring up " Cliques ", it's just a ****in laugh really . Makes him look foolish considering his track record on "Cliques ". I'll back Monk , like I did when he was a player , but he's certainly not my favorite person and I think he lacks character as a person .Just how I feel from a million miles away , same as some " On the ground " fans.

Roof, it actually makes Monk look stronger. It appears the squad was split, he's got rid of said players and replaced them with imo better players. If there was a clique of the old guard too, Leon, Monk, Ash (possibly others) and they went to complain, one thing that's undeniable is that they have the best interests of the club at heart.
It says a lot about Monk too in that he won't take no bulls**t either.
We have signed Gylfi, Gomis, Fernandez, Montero, possibly (Timothee), among others, somehow managed to keep Bony and just beat the biggest club in world sport on their own patch. What's not to be optimistic about, and as Aswan said, there is a feel good factor around the Liberty. We have moved on.
