Billy.....what you say is unarguable the difference between success and failure is minimal, and the psychological aspect in sport is not appreciated as much as it should be. If the playing squad was of such a superior standard to other squads in the league then you could get away not having the 'psychological edge' In my opinion this is where Leeds are very suspect at this particular time. The players know who the boss is and it appears that they do not have the respect that they should have for the manager/coach... For the players to develop a winning/win at all cost/put their bodies on the line mentality they need to respect what the manager/coach is saying and they have to understand what he is saying and why he is saying it. The players that you have brought in from overseas, do not appear on the face of it to be of such a superior standard to other players in this league. Added to this you have the language barrier....how does The Hock get across his message to non English speaking players, when it appears that he cannot get his message across to English speaking players.. You can see what a positive mental attitude can achieve when you look at the current Millwall squad....they are a different proposition altogether to the team that we had just six months ago.......with just a few changes of personnel....but with a completely different mindset How Leeds get over their current problems will be interesting to see, but you need to start getting some positive performances/results pretty soon, or else the rot will set in
EIO, there is no doubt about the Holloway effect at Millwall ... when he took the job I thought he was crazy, because something would have opened up for him at a promotion contender at some stage (and may still do if he keeps Millwall at the sharp end) ... the thing with Holloway is his own self-belief and his desire to win, and his image is coming through in his players for sure ... last night your team kept going, even after missing a penalty ... their heads never went down and they pushed and pushed and got their reward, and had that pen gone in you would have been three for three ... yes, we all had a giggle at Millwall's expense last season and it was touch and go for you, but boy has Holloway got you flying now ... and here's the thing that underlines what I say about your approach being critical, Holloway talks openly about promotion, "Why not? If we work hard and play to win, why can't we be up there fighting for promotion?" ... say it enough times and get a few positive results and suddenly everyone believes it and you've got momentum ... your team clearly believes now, that has been highlighted on the pitch, and the only problem I can see that may trip Millwall up is the size of their squad, so avoiding injuries will be key ... look, Burnley did it against the odds, and Dyche employed the same mentality as Holloway ... live the dream
Another belter, and I'm not even going to harp on about his "wingers are dead" rubbish ... this is after Brighton: "We were at sixes and sevens but we got the players focused at half-time and got the game-plan sorted out. We had one great move and one great chance, and we had to put that away." Oh FFS, why wasn't the game plan sorted on the training ground? Why were the players not focused at kick-off? I'll tell you why, because you are such a thick skinned idiot you actually believe your own bulltwang ... look at me the clever clogs, I saw the problem and fixed it at half-time .. oh jeez, you really are an idiot!! And how brilliant was your decisive action that we created one chance, not four or five, just the SINGLE ONE!! Fcuking genius you are Hock, I can see why the players won't play for you
Billy - When you get a spare 10 minutes, have a read through this http://forum.fgrfc.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25211 and you will see striking similarites to this thread - the only real differense is this link was put together by a bunch of fans of a non league club - some fans were on his side to start off, but as soon as you get to 10/11 pages the support of Hockawally gets less and less
nice one TC ... I shared a few jugs with eight FGR fans after the Swindon friendly and they were pretty damning of Hock ... what came across consistently among the group was that Hock was seen as pig headed and arrogant, and he was simply never wrong ... hmmmmmmm
just read it ristac ... you wonder why he even bothers to open his mouth, his comments are becoming more and more ridiculous, and its starting to show him as a thick cnut
Would it be fair to say some of you are not completely satisfied with hockaday. It's just not that clear from the hundreds of comments
We can't judge him or the team till 10 games in, according to some supporters, but I can't warm to the guy. He is the first manager, sorry coach that I don't like. Can't see us singing Hocky Hocky give us a wave. I've said it before that I don't want foreign players, they aren't up to the in your face british players. I hope I'm wrong and things work out.
Plenty of pl teams doing fine with majority foreign players shaks. Don't think hock will work out but far too soon to judge the new recruits
We aren't in the premier, that's all about money/sky/ which has ruined football. IMO we need honest hard working players to get out of this league. How many Italian players can you name that have played for Leeds United. Fecking sick of formations as well, diamond formation bollox. What's wrong with 442, we need wingers FFS ..sorry if I sound pissed off Eire, It's not directed at you or anyone. Just sick of the over analysing of every aspect of the club.
We all started the season with massive hopes, we hoped these new signings were going to stand out from the crowd and charge us up the table. A few games in it isn't going to plan and we are looking for every excuse bar one, that one being "What if these signings are not much better than what we had." I know what you mean about Hock, I wanted to give him time but I just can't warm to him either and I never will. As the season approached I have never seen so much positivity on a forum, it was good discussing all the links with new players. It's hard when you start falling back down to earth and some are hitting the ground quicker and harder than others
One disaster Tuesday night and this place is plunged into doom and gloom again. Fine pointing out what's apparently wrong but it's being done over me and over again. How many times can same thing be repeated
Well Eire, I guess it will be repeated continuously until Hock goes ... I think we are seeing the best of Hock right now, and that is a real concern ... honestly, his first major fcuk up was appointing Junior as his assistant when he should have gone for a better quality coach ... I remember when George Graham came in to stop us tumbling down the league ... his effect was instant, and he turned us around in no time ... Hock is just not capable
I counted Millwall as being another and a lucky win against Boro wasn't much better. This is called the Hockaday Out Now thread, maybe avoid it if you don't like the title
Thats fine Ristac if the Hock out stuff is confined to this tread. Unfortunately some feel the need to say it again and again in every virtually tread
It's not just about Tuesday though Eire. It's about the last 10+ years and all the false dawns. Sorry for repeating myself, but I don't mind losing as long as the team at least tries there was none of that on Tues. I can't see us getting anything from the Watford game and also I expect Bradford to be in our faces and up for the cup clash, lets hope our new signing are up for a good old Yorkshire derby.
