As part of my 24/7 obsession with all things Newcastle I've noticed that they rarely mention Gascoigne. Not even the local media appear to want anything to do with him and many supporters ignore his obvious plight. No doubt 1000's of them will bring out the teddy bears & scarves, to hang on the famous gates, when he finally drinks himself into an early grave. The Sky cameras, at SJP, couldn't attract more Mags if their van was giving away free Greggs ........
His face in the paper today tells a thousand stories, he's given up on himself and at that stage it looks beyond saviour. I fear he'll be handed a fresh new liver to pickle just like Best was, whilst other patients will die who have not intentionally abused their bodies. That would be a tragedy.
It's the eternal question, is he mentally ill or just an arrogant idiot with too much time & money on his hands.
I think he's physically ill, he really has had more chances in life than he knows. How many people have put their hands in their pocket to pay for his treatment? He's a car crash, just like Winehouse, it's inevitably just around the corner.
You couldnt argue he was 'sane' when he was playing. His so called 'friends' in the 90's have a lot to answer for although they are not to solely to blame for this dramatic downfall. Time and money..........I have neither and judging by this I dont miss it.
his own fans want to ply him with booze, well one in particular. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/265848-Gazza-on-Twitter?highlight=gazza please log in to view this image
Cheers mate, you're a star. No hurry like. Going to pop off for a spliff and an episode of black books.
Absolutely awful to see his plight...I firmly believe he is a man with a heart of gold, but just didn't have the social skills to cope with all the money and fame..
****ing hell, talk about being a shadow of your former self. He was a great player like, I'll never forget that time he lobbed Colin Hendry v Scotland. I've read his autobiography, he's had mental health issues since he was a kid. It's inevitable he'll end up the same way as George Best.
It's very sad. Doesn't look like he has long left Did you do that prediction fella? I've put pops on it now, if you've done it I'll put them both up no worries. If you've not done yet do you fancy doing the Birmingham game?
My opinion on him - the bloke is an idiot. A load of famous people (including Ronnie Irani - cricketer) put in a lot of money to get him to rehab and off the drink. On the way to the appointment he was pictured drinking - he spent the time in rehab and came out and started drinking again - he has no care for anyone - not even himself. If he dies then it wouldn't bother me now. 15 years ago it would have - but not after everything he's done to people who care for him and tried to help him
