Morning Col, it is not really repeatable on a civilised forum like ours. Suffice it to say lots of denigration of women, gay people and dark skinned people too.

I have no time for racism or discrimation of any kind...

All I will say is that if someone engaged a London law firm whose investigators obtained a search order from the High Court to enter your house and recovered evidence of 70000 texts and 100000 emails that you had sent/received, the chances are that they would find something which wouldn't look good among that mountain.
If they didn't they would be pretty rubbish at their job and wouldn't be worthy of the hefty fee Tan undoubtedly paid them.

It's some achievement to make Tan look like the good guy.

Not bothered who said what about whom Betty. The wider point I'm making is that when we were going through a bad patch last season - like we will do more than once this season - people were trying to hang Redknapp and wanted him out the door. Flyer was at the head of the band but there were many others (not you btw). Mackay just happened to be one of the names who they wanted in instead. Matt Lucas was another. Tim Sherwood, heaven help us, was another. Whoever was flavour of the month, they wanted them in and Harry out. They've subsequently been exposed as short-sighted fools.

Its no coincidence that Redknapp has managed at the top level for decades. These other fly-by-nights may have a season here and there but they soon slip back down the pecking order.

I know I'm opening up old wounds here but I'm still annoyed at the way some people still don't realise the job Redknapp's done in turning around the Tanker in such a short space of time. As Schteve McLaren said, no other Manager in the game would have been able to do it.

Completely understand what you are saying, and I do agree he has done a brilliant job. To get out 99% of the high earning past it players is some achievement.

However, looking at it from another perspective - last season was dire for the large part. On the pitch, we stumbled through the season and were lucky, in fact very lucky to get promoted.

Now, the history books will show we got promoted, not how we did it, so fair play to Harry. And I agree that was the main aim, but I do understand why some wanted him to go at times (I probably wanted him to go at one point as well).

To go to so many games, and see little improvement on the pitch is pretty disheartening tbh - seeing little to zero shots on target, game after game grinds your opinion down.

However, that is in the past, we got promoted, and look to have finally turned a corner now!

Off the pitch he's done some good things. On the pitch I personally don't think he's been that great. I'm hoping the off the pitch stuff is going to filter down and improve the on field things. Just takes time to peculate down I guess.

Edit: Just to be clear I'm talking about Harry not McKay.

I know what you're saying Judo and agree largely. Regarding the sh*t football, I think some folk don't quite understand what bouncing back up out of the Championsh*t entails. The way we did it, IE disgustingly ugly, is pretty much the only way to do it if you have a messed up squad the way we had. I said at the time that the sh*t football would bring us up but when we get back up and embed ourselves in the PL, the nice football will return. All of this takes time - say 3 stages - and we're on stage 2 now. Transitioning from effective football to quality football. This will probably take the season and then next year we'll see proper QPR football back at LR.

I do disagree on one point though. I don't think any team that gets promoted is lucky. Over a 46 - 49 game slog, only those who deserve to go up, go up IMO.

Good points though mate. Respect <ok>

Well I do seem to remember me saying this time last year - as long as we go up I don't care, the main thing is that we just get up - once you are down there for 2/3 seasons its even harder to get promoted. So can't complain I guess :)

I do agree now though, that having Redknapp in charge in the Premier League is a good thing - he knows the league inside out and as Mark Hughes would say "he knows how to win Premier League matches"!

I agree 100%. Also, and maybe I'm being naive here, I honestly don't see what the value is of releasing into the public what is essentially private communication between two individuals is, regardless of how unsavory the contents might be. The media of course love it and feigns shock and outrage in order to sell papers and generate web clicks, but I don't think that the world really learns anything new or hugely unexpected.

Never trust the media, only bad news sells. What could be more hypocritical than the actions of the people operating the News of the World who for years happily published / sensationalised any number of articles on other peoples misdemeanours. To allow any journo to dictate the moral high ground is total lunacy.

This thing is going to run and run. Now the LMA has had to apologise over it's original press release and further resignations have been demanded. Can you imagine how this would have been dealt with 20 years ago? You cannot condone what was in those texts, but it's a pretty scary world nowadays in which every ill-advised comment could destroy your reputation, your livelihood or your whole life. It's only going to get worse.

At least black, Korean, Chinese etc etc players know what McKay thinks of them, might help them make a decision should he come calling in the unlikely event of him managing a professional football club in the foreseeable future. Clue is not to make 'ill advised' - nice euphemism for racist - comments in the first place. He's 10 years younger than me, there is no 'generational' excuse, his reputation deserves to be in tatters.

It will be interesting to see whether there is any mileage in the underlying issue over whether he and Moody were in some way ripping Tan off by over paying for players. I'm finding it hard to see these blokes as victims in this, other than victims of their own stupidity, ignorance and possibly greed.

Do I understand from Redknapp's comments that anyone except rapists and *****philes should be eligible for a top football management job, as long as they are 'family men'?

The use of the term "ill-advised" was not meant to be directly related to Mackay, but a general comment. I don't believe I made any excuse for the prat, let alone a "generational" one.

The only thing to understand from Redknapp's comments is that a man approaching 70 ought to limit his comments in press conferences to what he's doing within the parameters of his own job. It is an impossible subject upon which to comment if you're not particularly articulate and attempt to clumsily make a point in a few short sentences...as I am also clearly demonstrating.

    Fair enough Ubes, apologies.

Fact is nothing is private nowadays except for face to face conversation with one person you trust entirely in the middle of Dartmoor. As I keep on telling my kids, anything you text, post on social media or email may one day come back to bite you in the arse.

The sort of comments made about the young lady photographed alongside Leroy Fer on another thread (by your correspondent and others) would be enough to ruin the career if many a public figure.
