If there is truth in the speculation over Beppe's job, then we need another thread on a possible replacement. Frenchie has already said that Galli seems to be manoeuvring himself into contention. Malky seems to have disqualified himself. Who else would be suitable?
Not sure that he would want to go back into club management as he is now the technical supervisor of the three clubs in the Pozzo empire, but at a push he might. Francesco Guidolin.
Just please no mention of Roberto Di Matteo. It's not going to happen and I don't think it would be a good choice in any case.
Becareful what you wish for . it would be an unknown to us Italian that will take time to get to know the league and the team. then we will drop to mid table at best
Paolo Di Canio The thing that worries me most is remembering QPR in the Mital days when Briggatore (sp?) was ruling the roost. I seem to recall they had manager after manager with many of them simply semi big name footballers who had no management experience at all - none of them were really given a chance and eventually he did the sensible thing and got in Warnock (I know he isnlt popular but he knows his way to the top of the table). Nobody wants that instability I'm sure.
With all the talk of needing people who know the league something horrible will probably happen like Warnock or Megson. Better to stick with what we have!
This is madness. Leave all this speculation twaddle to the idiots who are paid to write this stuff - and let our man get on with his job. Whoever thought that Ferguson (horrible man, but that is my point) expected his dressing room to be all sweetness and light. Do us all a favour someone and close this thread -it does us no good and doesn't bring any credit on those who respond to it.
I guess we should shut the transfer rumours thread as well as many of the others as well then. Perhaps you are missing the point of a forum? Feel free not to comment.
Close the thread !!!!! - I'm glad you are not a Mod - I happen to like idle speculation. Don't read it if it annoys you but leave the fun to those who want it I wish Beppe had gone in May - sacking him now and finding a suitable replacement would be more than difficult.
When I started this thread there was a huge amount of activity from people who are close to the club regarding the untenable nature of Beppe's position. However, I think it would be madness to get rid of him without any prior thought about his successor. Yesterday (today) it has all gone quiet despite Jon Marks' claim that everything would be made clear by Thursday. I actually agree with you, J T, that idle speculation undermines any successful functioning of the team. The question is, when is speculation idle or based on something more serious? Given the short term contracts that Beppe has been given since he joined us, I would argue that his long-term future with us has always been in doubt, so successor planning is important.
I've just learnt that Ryan Nelson has been sacked by Toronto, even though he has the best results record of any of their coaches. It would be nice to have a local lad as our coach (well, local to me).
Brighton fans don't seem to be very supportive of his "negative" tactics and suggest the bloke wouldn't suit our "attacking" players. Mind you he could adapt and any new manager should get our support.
