http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28890833 A half decent apology from him...... I do hope he can come back from this....
Two dubious texts out of 10,000, both of them private, not public. Not exactly the crime of the century and something less insulting that many politicians have actually unwittingly said in public without censure. I'm not convinced that he deserves to be pilloried for it myself.
I 100% agree. There are people who have been allowed back into the game for worse in my opinion (and i don't have a problem with that in general). He's already been punished in a sense so there's absolutely no need whatsoever to keep punishing him.
I think there is much more to this than meets the eye. Mackay was taking legal action against Cardiff for £7.5 million, when suddenly he dropped the action and furthermore issued a public apology to Mr Tan. Why?
Whatever the reality of the situation MM was at best naive given his position. The classic example how it takes years to build a good reputation and just seconds to destroy it.
Because to Mr Tan CCFC is about business and kudos. And if anyone thinks that he made and maintained his wealth by being a thoroughly nice chap and unnecessarily magnanimous and merciful to boot is even more naive than MM himself.
I'm guessing he siad that if he went through with it he had the texts and emails. If that was to be true it's appalling that he;s now released them.
I'd suggest that the little bit of mud that has been slung by Mr Tan has already left an indelible stain. A bit like "Josey Wales" spitting tobacco on the snake oil salesman's white suit. I agree with you though, Mark, I would be staggered if Mr Tan doesn't have something else up his sleeve. A pretty high stakes poker game going on here. Given that MM has lost his phone and computer to a less than independent source (e.g. the Police rather than Mr Tan's legal team) he may well lose his means of defence or evidence for counterclaims.
I don't think the ruthless Mackay would have dropped a £7.5 million lawsuit and issued a public apology just because of 2 emails which, after all, were only stess related banter!
I have a feeling that Malky is not perfect but is not really a bad guy - perhaps someone with a poor sense of humour and a lack of canniness to know not to put silly thoughts into the public arena - although to be fair he did not think his e-mails were public) I hope he recovers from all this - I would take Malky before Tan
Exactly so, his text messages were private thoughts shared with one other - I may stand corrected on this, but there is yet to be a law against thoughts. To my mind, the main issue arriving out of this is not that his text messages may have been racist, but more a case of where is the line of freedom of speech drawn. What he wrote was a private message, sent to one individual - not to the public at large. What annoys me is the involvement of Roberts, Rosenior and Collymore, they were so quick to take the side of Cardiff and howl in protest over the LMA - yet the reality of the situation is that their anger should really be aimed at Cardiff, the guilty party who made the texts public in the first place. If they're not happy with the way things are run in England, let them play in Wales...
Just to mention that the offensive texts/mails were only found after search warrants were issued to both men, the warrants were to look for evidence of misuse of funds to the amount of 90 million pounds, The results of this have not been disclosed and are obviously under investigation but Cardiff were duty bound to inform the FA of any misconduct, I have a feeling there is a lot more to come from this, Moody has made no statement yet and it will be interesting to see the outcome, personally I hope Malky can recover from this unless it's proven that he had a part to play in any fraud. Good luck for the season ahead lads and hope you can keep hold of Deeny, he's one hell of a player
