http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...ms-jermain-defoe-could-be-like-ian-wright-for Tottenham's Jermain Defoe could be like Ian Wright for Arsenal, according to Ray Parlour. The 38-year-old says Arsene Wenger should look to bring in the Spurs man as he offers a goal threat that his former club lacks, and feels some squad players are not up to scratch Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes his old club should try to sign Jermain Defoe from arch-rivals Tottenham. The 38-year-old sees similarities between Defoe and Arsenal goalscoring legend Ian Wright and has welcomed reports linking the Spurs man with a controversial move across London. âThey do need a striker,â Parlour told talkSPORT. âMarouane Chamakh found it difficult. He did well in the early parts of the season but went off the boil a bit. âThey should get someone whoâs a little bit different, who can score a goal, like an Ian Wright. Jermain Defoe would be a good signing for me. âTottenham fans wonât like it but thatâs how it goes these days. I was there when Sol Campbell signed and he was a great player for Arsenal.â Parlour also believes that manager Arsene Wenger needs to strengthen his squad in other areas if they are to avoid another trophyless campaign. âWhen his major players get injured there is not enough quality behind who can come in and do a job," he added. âWhen I was playing, when vital players got injured like Dennis Bergkamp, we still had players who could come in and do a good job. Thatâs the difference now. âIf Arsenal get their top side out they are a very good side, thereâs no doubting that. âBut if a couple of them get injured, have they got enough back-up? âPlayers like Bendtner and Denilson, can they come in and do a sound job? Last season they had their chances but I donât think they did.â
Bias aside, if Defoe was on Ian Wright's level we wouldn't be selling him. Parlour's just being racist comparing them cos they're black. Silly Ginger muppet.
So we are planning to fight for fourth place in the prem and sell Defoe to our, more than likely, closest competitor? Unlikely don't you think?
Defoe scored 24 goals in the season that we finished 4th. He's hardly crap. He started last season carrying an injury, picked up a worse one with England, didn't suit the system that we used, wasn't given a significant run in the team so that he could adapt and seemed severely out of favour towards the end of the season.
If we go back to 4-4-2 reguarly and balance our midfield right he'll be scoring like he used to again I reckon.
Spurcat, you probably don't know me, but I always enjoyed reading your posts back on 606. If it's really you, glad to see ya again.
If it is Spurcat, I welcome him He said on 606 he would not be signing up here but maybe he's changed his mind
He's obviously sponsored by the Tony awards. And dressed as a cartoon tiger. That divorce must be even more expensive that we thought!
