We have sold Snodgrass Pilkington & Fer so far and bought 3 pretty decent strikers for a fraction of the cost ,i'm not over the moon especially losing Fer but i have a horrible feeling that Hooper will be the next out of the door. I rate him as our most talented forward and unless he forces his way out by putting in a transfer request we should hold on to him, we have had enough asset stripping .
Alleged quote from Adams: Interesting to see whether this is just a soundbite to appease angry fans - or holds some weight. Full report here : http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2014-08-21/neil-adams-fer-wanted-to-leave-norwich-city/?
Do you think Adams means Jerome was his replacement ?,there was only a few hours until the #10 shirt got replaced.
And having lost Snodgrass and Pilkington, a wide m/f would seem to be a priority, rather than a 'Fer' type replacement?
IMO, Snodgrass is no big loss, apart from his free kicks and I think Lafferty and Grabban can play wide. It will be quite interesting to see if Josh gets more opportunities to play for the first team. I thought he played well when he came on against Blackburn.
We've got Lafferty, Grabban, Redmond, Bennett, Murphy and at a push Hoolahan and Surman as wide options. I agree it won't be the end of the world if we don't sign another wide player, but an attacking midfielder who can play wide and through the middle would be nice. If such a player can be found. I wouldn't say no to a central, creative player either. Whether a Hoolahan or Fox type player.
Adams has said that he is still on the trail of more signings and that he hopes there will be no more departures. So it ain't over yet folks.
In post #2042 I highlighted his words "we'll now look to get a replacement". Well, imo, he has known of Fer's desire to leave for weeks / months, so why start looking now, after the event has transpired. This should have been actively pursued since Fer first hinted he wanted out. Still, even if no replacement ensues, our squad - esp when Howson fit, is as good as any in this league. But I'm sure we'd all like it to be a teeny bit better ?
Adams has done a good job of rebuilding the squad as players leave. Getting Grabban and Lafferty in early to replace Elmander and RvW made a huge difference as they had the whole preseason to prepare. The addition of the experience of O'Neil, Cuellar, and Jerome is also excellent, as is the integration of younger players by coaches who already know them well. For me, many of the uncertainties have been largely eliminated and we now have a squad ready for the championship challenge. If other players can be added, we'll be even stronger.
This squad does IMO look better equipped to bounce back than when we were relegated under Worthy. I do feel the "hangover" isn't any where near as severe as I thought it would be. Adams & the board have to take credit for moving on the players who aren't up for being in this division rather than trying to hang on to them at all costs and de-harmonising the dressing room.
I'd also add to that that bringing in Gary Holt, who knows this league very well, and did a great job at Falkirk, has been one of our best signings. I'm sure NA has benefited no end from having him as his right hand man.
Any CM people know of that could be a good replacement playing in say Scotland or league 1/ Bottom championship that could step up?
I should say so, our squad going into that season was dreadful and our summer signings included none other than Andy Hughes, Mattieu Louis-Jean, Peter Thorne and Jason bloody Jarrett That surely has to be the worst transfer window of all time!! Speaking of Jarrett, just looked him up on Wiki and was startled to see that so far in his career (he's still playing, just signed for Salford City) he's had no fewer than 19 clubs, 12 of them he played 10 of fewer games for! Not a great character to have in the dressing room I wouldn't have thought, looks like clubs couldn't wait to get shot of him! Rumour on Twitter this morning: "Norwich and Club Brugge have reached an agreement on Vadis Odjidja. Player and club still have to agree terms." Gifted midfielder "of half Ghanaian origin, his father from Ghana and his mother from Gent in Belgium". Anybody know more?
He looks a bit handy albeit in the Belgian league. Would be an excellent addition and a bit of a coup for the club if we can seal the deal. Being top of the league probably won't hurt our chances either as players coming in will be looking at getting a nice promotion bonus and playing in the prem next season.
