Off topic tastic! I'm with Ruff - Alonso would be a good stop gap, good experience, and could possibly match Scholes and play at the top level for another five or six years. Tho' he does smacks of another of those players we are interested in just because they are available rather than because we necessarily need them. Much like Vermaelen and Di Maria. Seems increasingly like the scouting and negotiating team are focusing on the players that will be easier to get, rather than putting the effort into negotiating for the players we actually need.
