Sole Power - Best 5 furlong horse in training, come late and fast and blow them away in the final furlong - taking the 3/1 now as I think he will go off at 9/4
3/1 does look attractive and he may shorten but I think Sole Power could be vulnerable tomorrow. Wouldn't bet against him though.
Not had a winner yet, cpl of seconds, Cursory Glance was the only one that really mattered but wasnt particularly confident going into the meeting after the last few years. Estimate 9/2 That Is The Spirit 9/1 G Force 20/1 Munaaser 3/1 Was on Cavalryman at Goodwood because thought he was the value that day, wasnt Estimate's day but if she bounces back she would look a fair price and I think she might but the fav will take a bit of beating regardless. Giving G Force another chance, think he is better than he showed at Goodwood and just going with Omeara in the other race. Main bet Munaaser, tight price considering the handicapper has hammered him but cant not back him.
How much rain has and is forecast to fall at York? Little doubt Sole Powers the best but he likes it rattling fast doesn't he.
3.40 York Rangali 14/1 With doubts about Sole Power's readiness owing to a bout of ringworm which caused him to miss 10 days of work and forecast rain not in his favour, I'm quite sweet on the chances of the Henri Alex Pantall trained Rangali who looks to be a sprinter improving at a rate of knots and who is actually the 2nd highest rated horse in the field (1lb inferior to that of the market leader). Having been campaigned over 7f/1 mile in his 2 year old season, Rangali has really thrived as a sprinter this season and this speedball has excelled since dropping below 6f. Having been keen on his first 3 starts this season, Rangali appreciated the drop back to 5.5f as he commandingly won a Listed contest at Maisons-Laffitte back in May by nearly 2L in testing conditions. On his next and final start, Rangali took the step up to Group 2 Company in his stride with a really impressive display dropped to the minimum trip as he comprehensively dispatched of last years Prix De L'Abbaye 2nd Catcall with great authority as he quickened clear with a furlong to go to record an impressive and ready success. Back in 4th that day was the useful yardstick Stepper Point (who finished 2nd to Sole Power in the Kings Stand on his next start) and I was very impressed with his performance. Taking a keen hold was an issue with Rangali up until recently and the drop in trip/learning with racing have seen this 3 year old settle better in his races and resultantly he's been able to showcase his true ability on his last 2 outings and with a lot of natural pace I think he's a real 5f specialist in the making. If trained in Britain, I've no doubt that Rangali would be a much shorter price judged on the form he has shown and rating he has achieved and I certainly think he's been overlooked in the market in what looks far from a vintage renewal, Sole Power aside. Drawn in stall 11, I hope Rangali sits on the tail of front runner Take Cover as this should suit him ideally and, looking through the runners, I'll genuinely be quite surprised if Rangali is out of the first 3. Despite concerns raised by Eddie Lynam, Sole Power remains the one they all have to beat but I'm very happy to oppose him with this progressive 3 year old sprinter who I think has a touch of class which I cant say about a lot of the field. Seemingly versatile with regards to the ground, I think the blistering speed they go in the Nunthorpe should suit Rangali ideally and I think this 3 year old has a great chance of bringing home this Group 1 prize to France.
Three bets for me at York 1.55 Chancery 8/1 2.30 Estimate 9/2 3.40 Rangali (ROTO's) 14/1 Each way trixie as well
I know theres a lot of decent racing at York tomorrow but I'm leaving it alone and waiting for the night meeting at Hamilton for my one and only bet of the day. Hamilton 7:05 - Wee Frankie I've posted about this one before, guy in my work was part of the syndicate that owned the horse, he was unbeaten from 2 starts and has since been sold to Australian based OTI Racing and he'll race in their colours for the first time tomorrow. He's upped in class tomorrow but still looks set to be the early fav. There has been a lot of rain in the area today and if that keeps up tomorrow it will only be a good thing for him, both his wins have been on gd/soft and soft so proven on the ground. Coming up against older and much more experienced horses tomorrow but should keep progressing and I fully expect him to win.
Pricewise's selections for tomorrow (all York) are as follows Dayo 155 Stomachion & Chancery 305 Gabriel's Lad 340 Astaire & Rangali

SHOWCARD 25-1 Goodwood 6:15 is really interesting tomorrow evening if we have any money left after York. This horse is already a course winner but ran poorly here last time. That run however can be excused as she lost a shoe before the start. She was considered good enough to take her chance in the Albany although she was beaten a long way there. Dropped 3lbs by the handicapper for the run here last time but I am convinced that we will see better on a slightly easier surface. 25-1 in an eight runner field (lets hope they all stay in) is way too tempting for me to ignore. She is it seems a bit quirky but they have put a hood on her for the race tomorrow and it will not be a surprise if she shows radically different form this time round. Her form really has been up and down, I am hoping we have an UP tomorrow evening!
I just wrote up everything that I talked about with Graham Cunningham but for some reason my post didn't work. I'll post up when I get another chance. PEARL SECRET 16/1 e.w in the Nunthorpe. Long thought of as high class, been brought back gradually this season after injury. Nice and fresh for this race, ground fine. If putting in a full performance I think this horse has the ability to threaten at a big price. Oisin Murphy is the young pretender and this will be another good test of his riding skills- settling Pearl Secret is very difficult as he can take a fierce hold sometimes. If he settles him, he will run very, very well.
Just in from my back garden listening to The Killers live signing off with Mr Brightside...#fantastic #freeloader.
I hear the Honeyball yard are expecting a big run from RIVER DANCING 7/2 Ffos Las 5:45 tomorrow. Had some form behind a few nice horses a couple of years back but has gone drastically the wrong way since. Recently moved from Any Turnell to Anthony Honeyball and they reckon he is some way better than his very paltry 75 rating. Being punted by the yard and I expect it to go off around 6/4. back to lay material or sit and hope that they know what they are doing!
