if we signed Mario for £16m City fans would go mental, and socks blown off, Club moving to a new level ..... ...Sign Rhodes 1m less..City fans think **** we are desperate and prob gonna struggle to stay up
The Blackburn manager states with regard to Rhodes 'We have to comply with fair play rules'. It was a small part of the interview but it struck me as a strange thing to say. How that comes into play is beyond me.
Rhodes has a new 5 year contract , with a buy-out clause of £15m ...the question is will we active that buy out clause?
Well we missed the boat then as he must have just signed a new contract. This is the worse possible time to sign him. No one else seems likely to sign him so we'd be mugs. Either wait next year, release clause will be the same or move on to someone else.
No I got that but I can't see where it comes into play. I was almost like he was getting his excuse in early.
Sounds like they've realised their wage bill is too high, and he will be a big contributor to that. The extension to his contract would have been to ensure a high transfer value.
Indeed. But him saying that will surely give us a clue of which buttons to push to try and force it through. That was kind if my point as I understood it was due to the FFP rules but him saying that is a 'come and get him' which is the opposite of what he should be saying. Hence the comment 'How that comes into play is beyond me.'.
Wondering how much our sell on clause for Cairney and possibly Evans will come into play. Lets say we have a 25% sell on for Cairney and a 10% for Evans which is fairly reasonable to presume we have a possible £1.5-2m bargaining tool to assist any bid
If McCormack went for £11M, how much do you think Rhodes should will go for? I can understand them turning it down and there are better players around the world for less than this. I know SB likes to keep things British/ Irish but it's stupid money for home grown talent at the minute.
