Finally the straw that has broken the camel's back has arrived in the form of Balotelli and the lowest depths of insanity have been reached. How on earth can a team like Liverpool employ such a bad example of temperament to replace the one known as the biter?

I think I will stick to the lower divisions where at least there is some semblance of common sense and perhaps the dream of playing in the Premier League should stay exactly where it is with us, in our dreams.

To be honest Mike are the lower divisions any better? Ranger to Blackpool, Evans potentially to Sheff Utd, Hughes to Forest Green Rovers all spring to mind without even thinking too hard

I still don't like him and his attitude which has become the order of the day for so many footballers today, and the point about some of them down here in the lower divisions is well taken. Sad reflection of what makes a role model in today's society and whatever happened to the likes of Big John and some of his contemporaries?

Inver, the likes of Big John and his contemporaries are long gone, the only one i can think of that comes close today is one Ricky Lambert.

    Strange thread this one
Anybody who says they would be disappointed if City ever made the Premiership is frankly a lier.
They would be dancing in the street the same as the rest of us

I just don't like the coverage that the premier league gets. It completely overshadows the football league.

And all the glory supporters can **** off as well.

But surely that is because they get some of the world's best players.
No guarantee that this will produce a crackerjack game, but lets face it - 9 times out of ten its going to be better on the eye and far more awesome than its equivalent in any of the other English leagues.
Thats why its called the Premier League.

I know its trendy to put the current First Division down (and there are legitimate areas for criticism) but the simple fact is that is where the best players in England are.
Its where Bristol City hope to be one day, its where the new stadium we are suffering to build will hopefully attain sold out status, and its where Bristol City and their like will grow a national identity.
This is logical Captain, and frankly there is no real argument against it

When City were promoted SL put the prices up by 20%. If I was paying an extra say 50% for success it isn't a success for me as I would stay away.

As for Liverpool so what. Seen City players dive this season. We had Maynard acting like a twat. Romeo Browns. Liverpool do have the odd local lad playing along with attempting to buy that success not sure City will.

Those who do not wish for success could go support Minehead
There would be little danger of them tasting that heady wine there...

What's Balotelli done that's so wrong?

Don't know 100% what that means. If it was about success I would watch one of the big teams down the pub in my replica shirt but as it isn't i'm off to spotland for my second trip thirty years after the last to watch a small club play one smaller.

Surely Balotelli fits in with the whole ethos of Liverpool FC - Always the victims or 'Why always me?'

And I will be also :emoticon-0128-hi:
We do not support Bristol City to just view success, but that doesn't mean that putting success down makes any sense.
That was the point, and it makes more sense than shooting down the Premier League just because big business dominates it. Business has always been the bedfellow of success, and for good or bad that is what has made our league the best there is (not necessarily the best football in the world, but maybe the most exciting).

Its like they used to say in the music business, that the term underground band just means they don't sell many records. I have never been an inverted snob about football success, because I see little profit in driving my football dream down a cul-de-sac.

So go ahead and dream of Premiership, and Europe, and good things for Bristol City, cos it sure beats Div II. And reality will catch up with us in the end cos it does for everyone.
Look at Leeds Utd as an example, and ask yourself what their fans must think. But they never stop dreaming, and who would bet against a resurgent Leeds one day

It sure does not beat div II if you cannot afford to go. The premiership is ****, the first post is right but it is not there to be respected or admired its there to sell and make ££££'s so teams care not what they sign. Business can be the bedfellow of success have local players and low prices for fans. The Germans carry it off. They also beat the English at everything.

This. I love Balotelli, he is one hell of a character and actually quite humble in interviews. He definitely loves the attention, but barring the dart incident, which I don't believe was actually malicious, just incredibly stupid, I don't know anything he's done to harm anyone else.

I also agree, I dont believe that Balotelli has done anything malicious, he's just as daft as a brush and its good to have these sort of characters back in the Premiership rather than the likes of Suaraz.

I have little time for the Premiership, thought there is no doubt it has a higher quality- What I love about league 1 is the unpredictability, that anyone can beat anyone on the day. The standard can vary and at times be almost amusing. The mis placed passes, falling over the ball etc does happen but I think you get a more honest football at our level-

Rarely do you see diving, players going down like they have been shot, waving of imaginary cards, handbags etc. In fact there has not even been a booking for either side in our last 2 games.

And all in all, attended by honest supporters from both sides, who will travel hundreds of miles to watch their team rather than sit in the pub in their premier league replica shirt.

But the Arsenal team feature 4 of their world cup winning side, and Schurle plays for Chelsea, so we can't really use a German analogy.
I re-iterate my earlier post, and recommend Minehead as a pleasant place to spend a Saturday afternoon, untainted by any football ambition. Who cares if we win, as long as we stay in Div 1.
    I cannot believe this argument

Never mind - if we ever get in the Premiership then you now know that there is a home from home elsewhere. Personally I shall be enjoying the smooth, silky talents of some of earth's most talented players testing themselves against The Reds, and watching our spirited responses along with the rest of Europe.

And Germanys teams still have local players handing the premiership its arse, low prices for fans, bigger crowds than England and a world cup winning team created by its FA. The biggest stars now go to Spain.

Of course I would like to see City do better but not at any price. Last saturday Palace fans at Arsenal paid £45 including u18's. Meanwhile the German clubs subsidise tiickets and travel for fans.

When City got promoted lastg time SL put the prices up by 20% and when fans complained at a Q&A that loylaty was not being rewarded his attitude was "tough its the going rate". The EPL reeks of **** you im alright jack and for that you get to watch blockheads like a lot are.
