http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...r-Blackburn-Rovers-striker-Jordan-Rhodes.html They seem to like our players, perhaps an exchange plus cash might work and soften the outlay.
You could say the same about a lot of strikers. They don't need to be the best in terms of technical ability so long as they can hit the net
According to the HDM we have returned with a second offer in the region of £10M and its now being considered at boardroom level
Ironically, you could have said the same thing 25-30 years ago about Leicester's favourite son, and he did pretty well.
I'm not feeling him at the moment, especially not for £10million. That's a joke. He might score 20 for us and change my opinion. But at this moment in time this is not a shrewd move.
Fryatt wasn't technically a brilliant all round player but he knew how to put the ball away, it's exactly what we need from a striker and exactly what we haven't had since Matty first joined us. The goals Rhodes scored ranged from unbelievable to headers from a yard out, but the common underlying theme is that he puts it away. I think people think "Premier League standard" and automatically think of flair-type players (like Ince and Aluko), who do clever stepovers and Cruyff turns past defenders on their way to goal. A Premier League standard player is somebody who consistently performs at the top level, something which I have faith in Rhodes to do.
I very much doubt we'll see a conclusion to this until deadline day, all transfers tend to linger on until d-day once you get to this stage of the transfer window, it's all rather tedious and abit concerning when we need 3 or 4 players to pad the squad out sufficiently..
This makes sense, Brucey said we'd put offers in for five or six players yesterday, so the bid could've been rejected last night and a fresh one put in today. Still not sure if he'll be in before Stoke though.
Any chance they're doing to us what we did to Soton? They know we've got £12m from the sale of Long.
If you want pace, then Rhodes is the last player to look at, he's like a snail. This from a Blackburn ST holder - he's a good finisher mind.
Maybe, but they'll also be very aware that we don't have to give it to them if we don't want to. They've seen the other strikers we've been linked to so they know that if they really want to sell, they aren't going to dick us about or they're not going to get anything and we'll end up with another player.
The runner is just fine, the finisher is essential - but I think his pace and contribution are not very top drawer, but certainly taking too much flak on here. His teammates like winning and having their assists converted, Rhodes will do this more regularly than Long - everyone has seen the evidence of Long' s poor finishing. And should he score 10, 12 or 15 he'll be a failure then?
Rhodes has the potential to score more than 8 goals in a PL season. Long never has, in five attempts. I'd go as high as £15m to get him.
Watched the video, have seen him a couple of times live, scores goals from distance and tap-ins looks good in the air, and in particular look good when through one on one, how many times have we seen our strikers when through in that situation make a complete balls of it. I say get him in asap.
