Rhodes will get goals if given chances. If you do get him you just need to get the right service to him
I don't see why people are so stuck on finding a like for like replacement for Long. Long wasn't a replacement for anybody and I don't think we should be looking for the exact mould of Long either.
Agreed, Long wasn't as clinical as Rhodes is and while he ran the channels and all that stuff, we have Aluko and Ince who can do exactly that. Rhodes essentially stands in the box and puts the ball in the net, which is exactly what we've been lacking. He'll play off Jelavic very well. He does tend to drop deep to get the ball too, but I don't think he'll have to if he comes to us.
Hopefully..... Long did best when making his own chances, getting penalties etc. When he had the chances handed to him, he struggled a little. Hopefully it's the other way around with Rhodes.
Pace I'd suggest and I suppose the notion of defending from the front. I think Long would have done well against Dunne and Ferd on Saturday.
One thing on Rhodes is he isnt considered a very good footballer. Give him a chance and he will stick it away but he doesnt contribute much to the team But if he scores that many goals then who cares
I used to watch Rhodes at Huddersfield a fair bit - and even then I thought he was the real deal and nothing I've seen since has changed my mind. He's got everything that you'd look for in a striker pretty much, 2 decent feet, good in the air, can hold the ball up, and most importantly he scores goals.

This confirms a bid, SkySports Transfer Centre: 14:19 Rhodes to Hull? Blackburn have confirmed that Hull City have made a bid for striker Jordan Rhodes. And former Hull striker Dean Windass says Rhodes will score goals in the Premier League if the Tigers can create chances for him.
While waiting for another pint here in Lokeren, here's a seemingly compulsory YouTube video of Rhodes' goals:
Before I leave my phone alone for the rest of the day, have this little titbit to think on. Blackburn have enquired to Leicester about Chris Wood. See you later.
Looks a good championship player, massive massive jump though to the Prem, he would come up against miles better defenders, personally I think he would struggle in the premier league
What I really like about what I see is that there are no real pile drivers but the vast majority are well placed with just the right amount of power to beat the keeper. That shows real composure when required. The lad will do well and I hope it is us he does well for. I would have him over Long all day errr long
****ing lucky bugger, wish I could have gone to Belgium but I'm on my way to Italy in morning. I don't know about Rhodes. I'm not excited but that could be because I really didn't follow Blackburn much last year. I have no idea how good he is. It can work but usually I'm not too keen on splashing big on a lower league player. I'd rather we punt on a £2 million striker in the lower leagues and get a £10 million foreigner from a top league
That video doesn't impress me at all. Maybe that's a good thing. He does seem to know how to place the ball but the defending is absolutely horrendous. He won't get that much space or time in the PL and he doesn't seem fast or that strong. Reminds me of Fryatt. I dunno, it will be a punt no matter what. But that's way too much money.
