Sorry guys Cotterill got it all wrong last night 2nd half. I can understand the caution first half. However, his decisions second half beggared belief. By all means take off Pack, but he took the easy option taking the kid (Bryan) off for El Abd. To bring on Freeman, yes it makes sense but nobody on this Planet will explain bringing on El Abd. Go to a back 4 - Ok but football sense would be move Williams alongside Flint and Bryan and Little to full backs. Moving Ayling to midfield and Williams to LB just weakened their already poor contribution to the team. What was Jet coming on with seconds to go all about - was Cotterill trying to run the clock down. No let's talk about the 'goal' that should have stood - I like smokescreens.
Both sides were scared of each other, bit like a boxing contest. The Os will be much the happier with the point than us,that is for sure.
Yes but that goal that should have stood... was just that redprintt. We would have won 1-0 again by playing not so great, which is what the best teams do. Yes there were some flaws and mistakes but the biggest one was not from Cotterill but from the man with the whistle... Spot the foul... The ref what a joker should be demoted to the conference, those two points could make the difference between promotion or not.
It says undefined on mine, probably my malware and virus protection that's stopping me getting that virus you've now got.
I cant see why ref's don't get punished for something like this. A player gets booked or sent off, it leads to a suspension. The same should apply to refs. Not helped by my dislike of refs mind. He should get a red for that and a 1 game ban minimum.
To be fair mate there are a million reasons why refs shouldn't get punished for poor decisions... They are human after all.
Guess so- Brings in the whole video tech debate too- I notice that in the test matches that umpires aren't giving no balls now unless there is a wicket and then they review it!- Root got bowled, but was reprieved on review. All run outs seem to be referred as well as other different types of decisions, I lose track of it. Its a whole new subject, but on reflection, the human element I think is better. That said, I do like the goal line technology idea as a stand alone.
I thought we passed the ball well in the first half, but got worse as the game went on. Might have been different if Henderson had been on for the whole game as he won an awful lot of headers. Hey but we are still unbeaten!!!! long may it continue.
Saw Orient twice season v City. They didn't look world beaters again. Cotterill whimped out last night. Important to keep a clean sheet blah blah. Won twice this season without keeping one and have the players to score more than once against any in the division.
blimey its only early days and they will take time to gel, then i think we'll all be happy, my only worry which i stated weeks ago was signing a big man up top, like GJ did with adebola, i hoped we wouldnt as then, revert to long ball football, thought last night we were a bit guilty of that. one thing i did notice was the empty space between the defence and midfied/front men with no link player , so when anyone at the back had the ball they had no option but to hit it long over o's midfield to our attackers! also little was so far forward but unused, and bryan was too deep.It reminded me of how frustrated i got with Adomah , our full back would run up the line with the ball out of defence and AA would come BACKwards towards him and often get the ball with his back to goal and a defender up his backside on halfway or in our half, wouldnt mind if someone used this to run into the acres of empty space further up the wing, BUT they DON'T!!!!!!!!!!
That was not a case of not taking time to gel, they were playing to orders. I will be up silly am to go to Rochdale on a coach. i will be very disappointed if City play like that even away from home. Mr Cotterill has the players at his disposal to attack.
Anyone else going to Rochdale ? My second match of the season, and a first glimpse of our new strike force. If we can't beat Rochdale with two 20+goals a season men AND Wlbs (as well as all the others) then I will be astounded… But then I wouldn't have bet on us winning at Anfield or Elland Road in the past, so anything is possible in football
Is "Garbage" usually used to describe a clean sheet, and a good point against a side that lost in the play-off final last season? Orient were very organised, and came for the point. We never looked under any real pressure and should have won 1-0. Blimey oh Riley oh Kate.....
Sure you said many times ' the best horse didn't win that race' - usually that some jockey screwed up his tactics. 'Blimey oh Riley oh Kate.....'
