I'm with you Leon. I've no doubt he'd make the step up but it's too much money and I'm not sure he's the filler for the gap anyway. We need some pace up there.
I cant see us paying 12mil what would be the point in selling long is he an improvement in this league.
It's time you all realised that we're a premier league team now, and paying 12m etc for players is the norm. Stop thinking like ******s who can't comprehend their new found success.
We need pace. To be fair, I'd rather have Rhodes over Jelly but when we're looking for a worker we need someone quicker.
If you would like to read before you post, you would see that I have stated several times that he isn't worth 12 million and we shouldn't sign him for that. I was trying to debate yo the people don't think he is a good player and or don't think he's is good enough for this level.
If you would like to read before you post, my first post stated: “Not knocking Rhodes…” My entire point throughout has been that he’s unproven at this level. Not that he’s good enough for this level. Or that he’s not good enough for this level. Just that 12m is a massive amount for someone who is unproven and for that fee, it’d be tantamount to swapping him for the proven Premier League player we’ve just sold (Shane Long).
Rhodes isn't Prem Standard, he would of been snapped up before now if he was...The Championship is his level and he should stay there
That's ridiculous, the asking price Blackburn are asking has put off a lot of clubs, others simply don't need him. The top clubs often wait for teams like us to sign them, essentially doing their scouting for them. He's been a consistent goalscorer at Championship level, he's not going to be happy staying at that level for his entire career if we can give him football at a higher level. Your example is based on absolutely nothing other than the fact that he currently plays in the second tier. So do Jeff Hendrick, John Ruddy and Nathan Redmond, does that mean you wouldn't sign them given the opportunity?
Really? I suppose after signing Robertson we're moving not to Ferriby but to Glasgow to play in the SPL next season. Or are we going to complete a financial implosion and get relegated two divisions after buying the kid from Sheffield United
Remember when we played Blackburn at the KC last time I was quite looking forward to seeing him play. I don't think he did a single thing of note, completely anonymous, lazy even. That may have been symptomatic of what was going on at BRFC at the time, but I wondered what all the fuss was about. Now, I admit to not watching him week in and week out but have obviously seen him scoring regularly in a lower division, but is he the type that runs the channels and does the donkey work for a strike partner (Jelavic) or does he consider himself the main man looking, for others to put it on a plate for him? I wouldn't want to spend £12m on him as a like for like for Long.
