I fancied Fast Act to beat Tiggy Wiggy so I really should have picked it for tomorrow, but I haven't. Now PW has picked it. Bound to win now.
Anthem Alexander 11/4 to beat a horse she's already beat (who had a better draw than her), albeit 3lbs worse off....Okdokey
3lb for a neck...! and AA hasn't seen the track since! All about which one sees it out best and both looked capable of going six at Ascot. Mouth watering contest mate!
AA was always holding her to my eye though stickler and opposing Eddie's UK runners is the quick route to the poorhouse- Sole Power, Slade Power and the Anthem all testify to that! Should be a decent race stick but my mouth remains firmly dry until the real racing starts around October time Even with Aussie, Taghrooda and the King of man around this season I do find the flat season really uninspiring in general.
The Ladies’ Day feature at York looks like a penalty kick for the unbeaten Oaks heroine Taghrooda. The Irish Oaks second and third, Tapestry and Volume, do not look good enough, Talent does not appear to retain her three year old ability; and Venus de Milo and Lustrous were both firmly put in their place at Goodwood. The King George form might not have been done any favours in the International but John Gosden’s filly is the best three year old in Europe. The main questions in the Lowther Stakes appear to revolve around whether the step up to six furlongs will be the undoing of Tiggy Wiggy, as on the ratings she is the best filly in the line-up; although she does meet her Royal Ascot conqueror Anthem Alexander on three pounds better terms because her sales race saunter incurs no penalty. Albany Stakes winner Cursory Glance has not been seen since and will have to step up seriously on that form to collect here. Of the remainder, Sulaalaat would have to be a lot better than her ordinary maiden win to feature, whilst the others do not look good enough. The field in the opening sales race might be large numerically, but the weight range is not wide so it looks very likely that Phoenix Stakes runner-up Kool Kompany – already a Group 2 winner twice – will give them all weight and a beating to collect nearly £160,000 but the bookies are predictably not offering generous odds about Richard Hannon’s first string. Russian Realm is becoming expensive to follow. I am not sure I should give him another chance in the mile handicap, so watch him dot up. In the Sir Henry Cecil & EBF Galtres Stakes, the form horse appears to be Noble Protector, although the Newmarket form was not helped by Criteria at the weekend and she is penalised. In recent times this has been a three year old’s race and Dermot Weld’s Starlet, a twice-raced daughter of Sea The Stars, must be well regarded to be stepping into this on the back of a facile maiden race win. Struggling to find reasons to back any of the ones I think will win as the odds are not worth the risk.
Folks, fabulous day in York (although racing results were not in my favour). I have just spent the past half hour with Graham Cunningham in Stone Roses bar. I'll post what was effectively an interview with him in the morning
Kool Kompany would be one I'd be looking to take on if I was a bookie, not sure a big field suits him
AP McCoy has 5 rides at Newton Abbot this evening and has every chance of getting the 2 winners he needs for his fastest-ever century. First and last race rides for John Ferguson on Mondlicht and Arabic History, Crannaghmore Boy for Jim Best in the second race (lots of blue on oddschecker for this one), Chalk It Down for Jonjo & JP in the competitive looking handicap hurdle and Accessallareas for Sarah-Jayne Davies. Should be 2 winners amongst that little lot.
Look at his record when riding for Best Oddy. Their record together is getting backed., Not necessarily the horses chance of winning. Although, having said that, I expect it will dot up.
